They have three max contracts and didn't make the playoffs.

Update

Hawks are still working on the secondary framework and the 3rd and potentially 4th team in a KAT to Atlanta deal. There has been some reluctance from an owner with Minnesota but their GM is strongly pushing for a trade right now as his value at its assumed peak. 

Teams see KAT like LA Blake Griffin right as he was traded to Detroit. The belief is, he has an all star or two seasons in him but many expect a steep decline with the new contract being a massive overpay. That's why there has been just two teams and of course, the two desperate to get better fast teams in the market for him which was Dallas and now currently Atlanta. 

He says Atlanta is also still talking with Toronto about Siakam but they are still really far from a trade. As I said, Siakam is Atlanta top target by a mile. 

Could we end this week with no trades, possibly but Atlanta is close on KAT. There is just secondary parts that aren't so easy to solve and JJ is NOT in the deal, Minnesota wants him in the deal and that might be causing some issues as well.

Still, I expect this to get done sooner than later or not at all. Also, I said two 1sts previously, I was wrong, they are still negotiating that but Minnesota wants two 1sts which they did get from Dallas before Atlanta out bidded them overall with Bey who Minnesota highly coveted. 

The key pieces are done, just the other pieces and 3rd parties are not for now. 

Nothing new aside from that. This isn't the done deal I thought it was yesterday but they aren't far either.

They also want to resign McDaniels. Based on what I've gathered, they want more from Atlanta than Atlanta is willing to give them for KAT.

To be fair, this can be said about every trade in history right up until it's signed.

I'm still weary of a KAT trade as it seems our FO is too, so it makes sense that they're low balling their offer until Siakam is completely off the table.  I have mixed feelings about a Siakam/OO front court, or a Siakam/Capela front court, but I have a lot more confidence Siakam will be ON the court, which is always #1 for me as a fan.

The 2nd apron changed the game. Teams don't want big contracts with injury prone players or flawed players anymore unless they are a SG because teams have interest in Beal and LaVine. Not a ton but a lot more than they have in KAT and Gobert.

Pascal Siakam’s ‘message has been sent’ on potential Hawks-Raptors trade

The Atlanta Hawks have been in heavy pursuit of Toronto Raptors forward Pascal Siakam but the feelings are not mutual.

“As for Siakam…the resistance to a trade to Atlanta has really been on his side,” said Marc Stein on the ‘#thisleague UNCUT’ podcaston July 7. “The most-consistent rumblings there have been the Hawks had been very interested in a trade for Siakam, and that Siakam has been resistant to it…Siakam really wouldn’t be interested in a contract extension if the [Raptors] were to move him.”

According to Stein, the “message has been sent” to Atlanta about Siakam’s stance.

Stein took that from the original report and now this report is quoting stein. Stein said he knew nothing before he said that anyway lmao. NBA aggregation is like nothing else

As I correctly predicted, a KAT trade is/ was not imminent. Probably won't happen at all.

I think chances Siakam comes here are nearly none.

Chances that KAT is traded I think are low, is going to be difficult to get an all-star of that caliber here without paying a high price and I doubt we are doing that. If we are able to keep JJ, AJ, OO and Hunter for me is a no brainer but I am beginning to get the feeling this trade will not get done. Hopefully I am wrong.

No, there probably won't be a trade. And everyone will just pretend the whole insider KAT thing never happened. I've been on the Squawk for many years, this is how it works.
