Eh, seeing the price IND paid kinda confirms he wasn't the right target unfortunately.

This is a complaint/Irrational rant ...not to our insiders as I value them for the information we get.  But it's universally known/accepted/expected that the Hox are going to screw this up.  The rumors we've heard are...trash.  They have the foul stench of surstromming and booty sweat.

At the end of the day, where is the vision? The deadline is not here yet and this post may not age well, but for once, I'd like to see a player the Hawks target actually come to fruition.  Every year at the deadline, it ends with some contrived statement about nothing. Insiders...do you think this year is different?

Perhaps, but at least it was the right idea.  It almost sounded like all sides had a deal agreed to for Siakam.

I definitely hope they play to their potential and go on a run.

Agreed.  Nothing Rui does moves the needle.  And if it does in the least, we trading Murray for it? No....I repeat..No Laker trash.

If you find a good deal before the trade deadline then trade.  If you don't get a good deal, don't just take the best currently available.  There is no rush on DM.  If you are going to "desperation" trade someone make it someone other than him.   But maybe you need to be willing to hold your cards and not take any terrible trades just to send a message that the dump trades are done.  (In which case, we may end up letting Bey walk but I'd rather have that than taking bad deals just to do something because I think that leads to a very ugly situation in place for the next 5 years.)

DM is the one player we cannot do a trade that gets us future picks and a role player even if he is a useful role player.  Do that kind of "acquire a role player that fits Quin's scheme" with someone else if you feel the need to do it.  

DM has to be an impact trade for us if we have any prayer of keeping Trae.  And I'd rather die on the hill of trying to make it work with Trae and go crashing down head first into a full rebuild than the likely scenario of backing into a full rebuild by doing a deal like Grimes + pick or Rui + pick and having Trae decide to exit because the team clearly isn't serious about competing in his prime.

This is the inflection point that likely ends up defining you as a GM for your entire career, Landry.  GMs that push their teams into ugly rebuilds don't tend to get rehired.  We need to find a way to retool rather than rebuild.

There a a few players throughout history that would make me quit the hawks.. Carmelo Anthony.. not when we had him for a day but prime.. D Russ! I would literally be sad if he was a Hawk. Usually I warm up to dudes but his selfish style and unwinning plays make me ill ..

With SA in control of our picks for the next few years, there is just no upside to a full fledged rebuild.
