He's actually elite efficiency wise around the rim especially if he doesn't have to create his own basket which he doesn't with Trae. OO when starting game us 16 and CC gave us 15 and neither are the total package Clingan is as a screener and a roller. He's not Edey has he doesn't have the low post movement but he does move often like Sabonis and he can really pass the rock. To me, this is Marvin v. CP3 part 2. If we want Clingan, I say trade #1 to the Spurs for #4, #8, and one of our picks back.. lol Take Clingan at 4 and BPA at 8....
Popular Post ShooterSays
Researching Sarr right now...most pro comps I've seen are JJJ, Isaac, Mobley or Claxton. All of these dudes get a lot of love on this board, so much so I've seen DJM trade proposals for them. And Sarr might have just fallen into our laps for FREE! https://www.nbadraft.net/players/alexandre-sarr/ Strengths: Tantalizing prospect given his combination of length and mobility / overall athleticism… Long and lanky prospect who is stronger than he looks … Plays with excellent aggressiveness … Extremely mobile, and you won’t find a 7-footer who handles a guard on a switch or a pick and roll better than Sarr… Excellent rim protector … Reportedly measures 7’1″ with a 7’5″ wingspan, and has defensive anchor potential … Offensively, is mostly about garbage buckets and catching lobs right now, but is developing into a legitimate threat facing the basket … He can put the ball on the floor and get to the hoop fairly well for his size and finish with the dunk or lay up… Very fluid given his size… Thin but strong. Potentially a game changing defender due to his length and mobility. Also appears to have excellent timing at the rim defensively … Has strong hands on the rebound … Fairly soft touch around the hoop … Can give a little hook shot or scoop lay up, including off of a drop step … When he has the ball on offense in the paint, he goes aggressively to the rim to score or get fouled … Defenders have trouble with his length when he puts the ball on the floor to get to the hoop … Not great, but decent handle in the face up game … Can even grab a rebound and take the ball coast-to-coast… Goes up sky high and catches the lob … Excellent at cleaning up the offensive glass with putbacks … Despite a lack of efficiency, shows good form on his jumpshot. He sounds exactly like what we've been asking for. 11
Premium Member Jody23 Posted May 12 Premium Member Report Share Posted May 12 When it comes to bigs especially, what kind of motor do they display? With bigs, the intagibles matter ALOT.
JustSomeGuy
I think this is really an unenviable position but one where we realistically can’t go wrong (or at least can’t be second guessed. Two elite defensive bigs. One a better post player and rebounder day one. The other more switchable with a higher upside. Both of them address our biggest need but could top out as plus starters. My worst nightmare would be the FO falling in love with Ron Holland though lol Edited May 12 by JustSomeGuy

The Trae year was the good year and we will debate that draft for decades....
JustSomeGuy
I would rather trade the pick for a bonafide starter and save our depth than draft anyone not named Clingan or Sarr though.
Popular Post givemesome1ce1
It’s Alex Sarr. It’s a no brainer. Athleticism, wants to shoot threes, great on defending the perimeter. DO IT. 13

Popular Post ShooterSays
Trae | JJ | OO | Sarr - That's a solid core man. Then add Bridges, PG13, or one of those Pelicans wings and we might be onto something. I feel a lot better about our future now than I did 3 hours ago.

Can't go wrong with a #1 pick (me, blocking out mentally the Anthony Bennett pick)... Don't let some posters around here convince you otherwise.. lmao Edited May 12 by theheroatl 4
Premium Member Popular Post Wretch Posted May 12 Premium Member Popular Post Report Share Posted May 12 Sarr is pretty much the only guy that I researched this year and I thought we had no chance at him outside of MAYBE trading up. He's my only choice at #1. I'm not opposed to trading the pick in a package for an otherwise "untouchabe" star or prospect that can grow with the current core.
Moderators AHF Posted May 12 Moderators Report Share Posted May 12 This is like the Anthony Bennett draft in that there is no clear choice at 1. Don’t Bennett this draft, Landry! Get us a core piece for the next decade.
Popular Post REHawksFan
I can see the logic in both players and won't be upset with either. But for me, when there's no CLEAR CUT best player, you take the player with the biggest upside and try to develop him into the star you need. So that's Sarr, imo.

Premium Member Sothron Posted May 12 Premium Member Report Share Posted May 12 I would trade the pick. That is if a deal makes sense. If they keep th the pick I think Sarr will be the choice.
