JOHNSON TO REMAIN WITH HAWKS

NJHAWK

Recommended Posts

With his 100 million +, he needs to hire a REAL publicist. Although most of the fans will attend the games anyway, I think seriously need to hire a professional to work on improving his image. One of his last thoughts about us was he didn't care whether we stay at home or not.

Anything can happen though.

I'll tell you something that can't happen. Joe can't go somewhere else and get 6 years without the Hawks' blessing. The ASG holds the cards on this one because he isn't going to give up that 6th year. He may discreetly talk about a S&T if he wants to go somewhere else but he needs the Hawks on board so if they want him all they have to say is "we are offering the 6th year and we won't do a S&T." Joe won't walk from that money.

Agreed. Something that C. Bosh didn't do in Toronto, be discreet. For once, JJ's quiet, almost non-existent, personality may help him in the end.

Joe Johnson is on the brink of accepting a $119 million contract with the Hawks, according to a source.

Johnson has been a targeted free agent of the Knicks, Bulls, Mavericks and Nets, amongst others.

The delay on Johnson's agreement has been contractual terms and not on competition from rival teams.

There better be a deal with someone waiting for Joe to sign that contract. If they spend 120 million and make no other major roster changes we're stuck as a second round easy exit for the next several years.

Was actually hoping Joe would sign elsewhere. This is way too much money to be giving him. This shows that our hands are tied and we don't have anything else to lean on. It's Joe or nothing at this point.
