15th Pick - Adreian Payne

Exactly.  the knock on him is really his small lungs/asthma, although it sounds like he is not going to be as smart of a player as horf or sap.  (I'm avoiding having a rambling discussion about how lung size isn't a determinant of  aerobic potential.)

Oh come on, Horford went to UF, how smart could he actually be?? :saythat:

Loved some Double Dribble......on a fast break it would cut to a black and white shot of a guy dunking.......seems like a backwards dunk was one of the common ones.

Ya and wasn't the guy dunking backwards slight have his legs crossed ala Spud's reverse dunk in 86 dunk contest? I'd like to think it was a tribute to Spud. :-)

Changing pace from all that's going on, but it's nice to see Payne and Patterson already working out with Muscala, Schröder and Millsap. You can see pics on Twitter as they were posted by The Skill Factory.

TSF Pro/Elite: @Paulmillsap4 @mikejawz @ATLHAWKS @DennisMike93 @Adreian_Payne @JBosNBAskills @joshburr http://t.co/UcCLpc4MaY

Is there a way to post the Tweet (the cool way) on the mobile version?

If you can view the actual Tweet itself and copy the URL from the browser.  The URL has to have the "status" part in it. So if you had copied the full URL of that Tweet and put it into the [ tweet ] tags it would have worked.

@Dolfan23

Thanks. Making sure I got this right, the entire URL (with "status") placed in between two tags that look like [ tweet ]?

Yes sir. Just like this. I went ahead and posted all of the Tweets in the summer league thread though.

Atlanta Hawks' draft pick Adreian Payne looking to Steve Smith for guidance

'He's right down the street': Former Spartan Steve Smith ready to welcome Adreian Payne to Atlanta

http://www.mlive.com/spartans/index.ssf/2014/07/hes_right_down_the_street_form.html

Before he was an analyst, Smith starred as a player with the Hawks from 1994-1999. Interestingly enough, the Hawks acquired him by trading Michigan State alum Kevin Willis to Miami for Smith and Grant Long. Smith was the model of consistency for the Hawks and peaked in 1998 when he made his only All-Star Game appearance. Smith eventually moved onto Portland and then San Antonio where current Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer was an assistant under Gregg Popovich.

After retirement, Smith spent time as a television announcer for Hawks games before moving on to NBA TV, where he currently works. He still lives in Atlanta, which will soon become Payne’s home.

“He’s right down the street, I get a chance to go watch him play,” Smith said. “My kids they were excited, jumping up and down, ‘Adreian’s in Atlanta’. That’s special for us as a family to have a Spartan in Atlanta.”

Smith said he’s gotten to know Payne during the last four years, from texting him to offer advice to working with him on his jumpshot.

“He’s a guy that I’m close to,” Payne said on draft night. “He gives me advice about what to do and what’s the key to work on. I just try to continue to heed his advice and use it the best I can."
