Hawks offering Pau Gasol 11 million a year [Update: Signing with Chicago]

I know I said this before - but to reiterate - if we had Pau Gasol at Center next year - with the players we already have - and another year under our belts with Bud's system - I see no reason we wouldn't be competitive against CLE or any team in the EC.

Gasol/Antić/Payne

Horford/Millsap/Payne

Millsap/Korver/DMC/Payne

Korver/Thebo - or maybe Thebo/Korver - Jenkins

Jeff Teague/Mack/Dennis

Depending on matchups you could have a starting lineup of:

Pau Gasol, Al Horford, Paul Millsap, Kyle Korver and Jeff Teague...not too bad.

subs would be Antić/Payne...DMC/Thebo...Jenkins...Mack/Dennis

Was - he looked really bad in the playoffs.

I can't find a source right now but it was revealed after the finals that he was playing with a major injury. I want to say it was a broken bone or a stress fracture of some sort.

Ok - I know Manu had a stress fracture, didn't hear about Birdman

I saw the interview and he got lucky getting out of that one. They shipped him out of Denver quickly. As for saying I'm talking out of my ass is completely out of line.

and you outright lying about something as serious as child porn is completely out of line.

So we are reported as offering $11mil+ for Pau, but what can the Spurs and Bulls offer? Aren't they pretty tight on cap space?

He supposedly turned down a 2yr/23Mil offer from LAL, so it doesn't sound like we were really trying to blow him away with our very generous offer... And we're not nearly as appealing as CHI or SAS (or LAL for that matter), so you'd think we'd need to toss a bit more his way.

Anybody know what the Bulls or SAS are offering? What can they offer (without crazy finagling of rosters)?

Well anyway..porn besides...can anybody answer my question - do we have DMC  for next year or is it still a free agency situation?

We have DMC for one more season (the upcoming one). Then he's a FA

Personally - since it's not my money - I wouldn't mind if we upped the offer on Pau Gasol a bit...granted we Squawkers tend to be thrifty...but a center who can really play for two - maybe three years - OK.

The NBA is fluid...get a guy that can help you now.

Bulls/Spurs can offer the MLE $5+ million

Dang ... sign with the Hawks and double your money, play with 2 all stars in Horf/Sap, very unselfish team. Add in that the EC is easier (ding against Spurs) and that DRose has a lot of question marks (ding against Bulls), ... fairly provocative offer.

Everyone just dismissing Pau signing here just because we're the Hawks, or am I missing something? (I get the whole "we're the Hawks" thing, but seems like a pretty good situation for him to consider from a $$$ and team perspective)

Well, Gasol is about to be traded to Bulls

This is latest I've heard - you got something else?

Adreian Wojnarowski: Pau Gasol could find his way to Chicago, but it's unlikely to be in a sign-and-trade for Carlos Boozer, league sources tell Yahoo Sports. Twitter @WojYahooNBA - See more at: http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm#sthash.PVCHocNv.dpuf

And it seems like only yesterday this board was probably 75% against the thought of trading Josh Smith for a younger Pau Gasol because he was on the downside of this career.

Now look at us - probably 75% here feel Pau is too good to sign with us.

Where's an irony button when you need one?

They wouldn't have traded Smith for Lebron James back in those days.

But I definitely approved of Smith for Pau in a trade.
