Yeah.......there's no way in HELL that Cavs pick is going to transfer.  Sucks but at least the Mavs pick should transfer.  They might not make the playoffs but there are at least 8 or 9 teams that I think are worse than they are.  And they are TRYING to win at least.  Might need to prepare ourselves for 2 lotto picks and neither being Top 3.  Could easily see Hawks pick 6-8 and Mavs pick 10-12.

Eggzackly, that pick is toast. I’ve guessed Hawks pick around 8th and Mavs around 10th as well ??

It's super early, but I'm surprised Chicago has only won a single game. They've been playing well and in close games in the bits I've caught of them on league pass. And Lavine looks good now that he's mostly healthy. Washington and Philly will also bounce ahead of us. That puts us just outside the playoffs.

I'm not sure how many of those other teams are better than us. I think Charlotte and Miami win more than us. Mavs probably miss the playoffs but bottom 5 will be pushing it. I like the idea of two mid-late lotto picks. And you never know with luck what ends up happening. Maybe we emerge from the tank after next off-season?

Lauri is out with elbow, portis is now out 4-6 weeks with sprained MCL and Dunn is hurt, again.

Agree. Ive always contended Hawks challenge for a playoff spot in year 3 of the rebuild.

Yup. One more draft and we ready to roll. Also, can you all stop saying the Cavs pick won’t convey...they are 0-4 only there’s a ways to go. Plus I’m scared my avatar is in deep doo doo ?

I’ll be cutting it close with mine too. The Miserable One claimed Hawks would be worse than last year, when they finished 4th in draft position(by record).  That’s the bet I SHOULD’ve made. The bet I ACTUALLY made was that Hawks would finish no lower than 8TH in draft position, by record. Couldn’t leave well enough alone and take the easy bet of 5th or better. Had to get bold and make it difficult. Still could very easily hit though ???

Will have to do a consolidated update on the bets thread after every 15 games or so and see how people are trending.  Should be fun.

Guess I figured I didn’t want to take candy from a baby, so I threw some vig in there to keep it interesting ?

Quote

Cleveland Cavaliers going into tank mode a matter of when, not if

The Cleveland Cavaliers have no other choice to but to tank the season in order to keep their first-round draft pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have fizzled out of the gate to the tune of an 0-5 start and the tough pill to swallow in this mess is that they’re not even play elite competition.

Aside from their opening night loss to the Raptors, Cleveland’s defeats have come at the hands of Minnesota, Atlanta, Brooklyn, Detroit.

Do any of those squads really scare you?

Atlanta and Brooklyn are terrible, yet both squads waxed Cleveland on their home floor.

I took a look at the ceiling/floor of this team before the season started, and thought they could be a low playoff seed. Worst case scenario, they were going to be one of the worst teams in the league…and it’s certainly trending that way.

Give ESPN’s Zach Lowe some credit because while many of us were blinded by our Wine & Gold glasses with hopes of the playoffs in the newest LeBron-Less era, the scribe picked Cleveland to be the second-worst team in the Association.

With that said, I don’t think this Cavs’ team is as worse as the squad we were “treated” to following LeBron James‘ first departure.

However, they’re probably not going to win many more games than the 2011-2012 squad won (21-45).

The question for the front office becomes when to go into full tank mode. If the Cavs start the season at 2-10, is there any reason to keep playing for the postseason?

Instead of fighting an incredibly difficult uphill battle to perhaps grab the eighth seed, the organization would be better off in the long run to be one of the worst 10 teams in the league so that they keep their lottery pick.

We’ll see. There are some winnable games coming up in the next five-game stretch with Atlanta, Charlotte and Orlando on the schedule.  There’s also two more losses you can pencil in (Indiana and Denver).

After these contest, we get a clearer picture of what the front office wants to do because there will be no reason not to trade Kyle Korver, J.R. Smith or Tristan Thompson................

When you're 2-2, you can feel that cocky.

When you're 2-2, and your two wins are against teams that have either lost by 20 to the Suns, or lost all 5 of their games out of the gate?

You shouldn't be.

There's a lot of talent this team still needs to acquire to make it big, as we all aspire for them to do.

Why do you keep bringing up that Dallas loss by 20 to the Suns?  They also beat Minnesota which was a playoff team last year.

It's early in the year, for this young team to come back from at least 15 down against any team is something to be excited about.  It shows they have fight.

I for one, don't think we'll be a playoff team and still will have a top 5 worst record when it's all said and done due to the youth on the team.  If they slip into the playoffs, so be it. If they go 2 - 80 so be it.

I haven't had this much fun watching Hawks basketball in years.

I'm not understanding who you think is being cocky.  If they are excited, let them be excited.  Just like when the miserable ones are miserable, let them be miserable.

That’s fine but do you mind if we beat the crap ? out of the Bulls today? Winning two games against two crap teams doesn’t matter to me. What matters is the next game and that’s today!

LETS GO HAWKS!!!!

ps Sturt are you Jamaal on realgm? I’ve really wanted to stick it to that guy about Wendell Carter and the fact that he sucks..well he doesn’t but the slow start needed to be addressed to Jamaal aka Braaaaaadddddd.
