Pierce sat with Reddish and Hunter on the plane ride to Atlanta from Chicago last week and asked them how they were feeling after 25 games in the NBA. Hunter and Reddish looked at each other and smiled, and both said how hard the league is. They still couldn’t figure out back-to-back games yet or how to be consistent on a nightly basis.

Reddish said the NBA kind of reminds him of AAU basketball, in which teams play multiple games per day sometimes and numerous times in one weekend tournament. He feels like he’s becoming more used to the travel demands and the daily grind, but he, too, has struggled.

The Hawks enter Tuesday’s game against the New York Knicks with a 6-21 record, and the totality of losing and personal struggles have weighed heavily on Reddish, but he has been trying to keep a positive mindset.

“It’s difficult. It’s different than anything I’ve ever been in,” Reddish said. “In this process, the one thing I will never do is question God’s timing. We just have to stick with it and continue to trust the coaches and each other. I feel like we have the potential to be very good in the future. We have to get used to each other, and that is going to take time. I feel like we’re improving each and every day. We just have to stay with it.

“I think things are definitely getting better for me on and off the court. I feel like I’m becoming more of myself. I just have to stick with it and continue to grow.”

Kinda weird how watching some replays shows me something different from what I felt during the games. Probably my attention span but either way thanks for all this work you are putting forth for us Supes. Knowing that I am way to lazy for it myself and am not just saying stuff here.

When you are watching it live, it comes with an expectation. While when you are watching film or clips, you are seeing what happen, how did he do it, how did it look, etc.

You are an analyst so maybe you should be compensated for it. Not suggesting something as nefarious as ESPN but certainly something that has a very broad audience. These clips are very, very helpful and they surprise me how off I can be. Thanks.

Barrett, Hunter, Culver, Reddish are all struggling; big wings take the longest time to develop. It is just the way it is unless your name is LeBron. One of our two players is going to hit in a big way and just maybe both do.

On the very bright side of a dark and gloomy season, there is a light and the end of the tunnel (and no its not a train coming at you, that's the Hawks season) for Cam's offense:

12 games in November:

7.9 ppg/3.1rpg/1.5apg, 27.9% from 3, TS% 42.8

12 games in December:

10.6 ppg/4.3rpg/1.1apg, 32.7 % from 3, TS% 48.7

While playing stellar defense.

Baby Step of improvement!

Hunter was brutal last night on offense and defense, but.......0 Rebounds??? Wow.

When he's not scoring, he has to find other ways to impact the game.

JBH, do you think he should start over Heurter?  I think his progression deserves that reward at this point, the starting lineup needs his defense in the backcourt

Hunter's lack of rebounding is very discouraging, he needs to improve a lot in that area.

I would like to see a fully healthy Huerter with Trae, Hunter and Collins as was the expected plan to start the season before making that determination.

SI: It seems like you’ve been an important voice for the rookies on this team, particularly Cam [Reddish]. What kind of strides have you seen him take since the start of the season?

VC: For me, I just think the game is slowing down for him. More so than anything else. Playing under control, ball-handling, rhythm shooting, footwork – all of that stuff comes, but I think all of that stuff he can work on every day tends to make sense when the game slows down, because you can think more things instead of just having to react all the time and you’re just going off of impulse – whatever just comes to mind you do. And that’s kind of what was happening at the beginning, and I think the game is slowing down. So now he can read and react instead of just react. So all of the things that he’s worked on or the coaching staff has worked on with him, he can now utilize or think through the game as opposed to the first month, where there’s just so many thing happening. The work and the skills that he’s been working on are there, you just can’t really use it because everything happens so fast and he didn’t know how to react to it. Now he’s reading and reacting. And it’s going to take time. He still has a long way to go, but the strides are what you want to see month to month, and he’s definitely doing that.
