Premium Member Popular Post JayBirdHawk Posted July 3, 2021 Premium Member Popular Post Report Share Posted July 3, 2021 Quote Do not count them out. What has made this run so enjoyable is they’re so unpredictable, frustrating and magical all at the same time. You never know what Hawks team is showing up in any game, and that’s the beauty of this bunch. The Hawks are two wins away from the Finals, and four of their normal starters have played fewer than five seasons in the NBA. Two of their main rotation players (Cam Reddish and Onyeka Okongwu) have less than three seasons of NBA experience combined. Those last two sentences alone should be enough to dismiss the Hawks as a legitimate threat to beat the experienced Bucks, but as Lou Williams said after Game 4, they deserve to be here. They took down the No. 1 Philadelphia 76ers on the road in a Game 7 in the semifinals. The Hawks were down 18 and 26 points in two games against the Sixers in the last round. They won those games. They stole Game 4 against the Bucks without Young and made it a best-of-three series. This isn’t some fluke. Do not count them out. There was nothing on the floor in Game 5 that would suggest this series is going seven games and the Hawks will be the team advancing to the Finals. Milwaukee scored on its first 13 possessions; the Hawks had zero defensive rebounds midway through the first quarter. The Bucks scored 66 points in the paint, and that’s without Giannis Antetokounmpo. Kevin Huerter went 3-of-12, John Collins’ first basket came with four minutes left in the second quarter, and yet the Hawks were down only nine at halftime. Holiday, Middleton, Brook Lopez and Bobby Portis all scored more than 20 points. All flashing red lights for Atlanta. “This is not complicated,” Nate McMillan said. “We guarded last game. We’ve got to guard the ball. We have to be the aggressors. That’s what this game is all about, being able to do that in two of our games to win. That’s what it comes down to. You’ve got to guard. You’ve got to put the ball in the basket.” Do not count them out. The message since McMillan took over a team that was 14-20, 11th in the Eastern Conference, lacked cohesion and confidence in closing out games has been simple: believe. So why stop now? Do not count them out. It's winning time! Go Hawks!! 5

Do I need to put one together? The only promise I'll make is it'll be nowhere near the quality we're used to ... and it most likely will need a NC-17 rating. 1

To be fair, Pierce was a real jerk to Chris on several specific occasions. Back when I was a Pierce apologist, I always wondered what the beef was and why he was so mean to Kirschner when he asked basic, fair questions. That he was that way to him specifically led me to believe Kirchner did something to earn it. I mean, who else got that treatment from Pierce? Seemed pretty media savvy overall. But my guess is Chris criticized Lloyd at some point and Lloyd took it personal and tried to freeze Chris out which only adds fuel because now Chris is forced to fill in the blanks with his own opinion which would only annoy Lloyd even more. And on and on. At the end of the day, the Players, Coaches, and front office folks must always maintain a level of professionalism and humility as it relates to public relations. The media and writers like Chris have the power of the pen and wont always say what you like. But they will always win that battle because they control the headlines and narratives. You have to understand that even if you don't like the guy asking the question, you are actually speaking to the masses and not to him personally. The contentious relationship with Chris seemed to either stem from or spill over in to the very real behind the scenes disconnect that was happening in the locker room. TheNorthCydeRises
I sense apprehension within the fan base. Not just on here, but on all platforms. Like this is the end of the ride. What a tremendous season this has been. The best ever for any Atlanta Hawk fan. Before we go into this game, I think this movie clip is appropriate. #BelieveAtlanta 2
