This team was down 2 - 1 too, in a series in which they couldn't stop a certain guy.

Dre didn't dress, of course. And so, we won with this same group that will dress tonight.

 

Doc has made some adjustments since then, and we've lost two.

But it would seem to be less about personnel/talent, more about strategy, then.

 

There was a time during Game 2 when it seemed the momentum still tilted our way... about 2:00 remaining in the 3rd.

 

The most glaring difference in Games 2 and 3 has been that PHI has had someone come off their bench (Milton in 2, Korkmaz in 3) and given them a serious spark. For all of the hand wringing over stopping the starters, that seems maybe misplaced.

Facts. We need to get the bench guys going. Snell has gotten gun-shy with his role reduced, but we could use some shooting off the bench. Lou hasn't been the explosive scorer that won games for us when we were injured. For as deep of a team as we are, our bench has been pretty quiet all postseason. It's time to run some plays with intent to get them going. Too much read and react, they need the green light to let it rip and get their confidence going.

Ah good times. I think that was Jeff Teague's coming out party. I still say the "Squawk is sleeping on how impactful Smoove was during his time in a Hawks uniform. He had serious game.

I remember Jeff Teague coming out on a west coast trip that included a game against the Suns in Phoenix.

Doc's team isn't that mentally tough either. They knew they were in trouble when the Hawks took their best shot and got up off the mat. You could feel the momentum shift and they panicked a little. It's easy to be a front runner. You need mental toughness to gut it out when you're not ahead comfortably. Fortunately, the Hawks learned that very painful lesson multiple times during the regular season. The Hawks still make some very goofy plays down the stretch of tight games, but they have short memories and move on to the next play. I attribute the "goofiness" to youth and inexperience at this point because the metal toughness is definitely there. Statistically, Game 4 was supposed to be a loss. The Hawks fought and straight took that game from the 76ers.
