As a note: if the Celtics decide to give JB the veteran max extension, he will start at ~$50M in 2024-2025 season.

Between JB, JT, KP, and White/Timelord/Horford, they will have ~$178M tied up that year, which is right up against the apron of $180M.  There's a reason they haven't extended him yet and it's because their roster would be so top heavy it might not be the best path forward.  They'd very likely be hard capped without making moves to shed salary (talent).  And btw, the year after JBs supermax would kick in, you'd have Tatum wanting a supermax the following year.  It just doesn't make sense for them to retain both players long term.

There are also teams out there that laugh at the 2nd apron.

Reads like a bookie

I can almost see him being a fan of the Wolves or a member from realgm that seen a few of these inside info that was posted over there.   Their was a member on the wolves part of that section that had info from here posting it over there.  I had to step in a little bit to make what he was saying make more sense because he left info out lol.

@Sothron@NBASupes@thecampsterbased on the most updated info you guys have. What likelihood do you give of this KAT trade being pulled off/ any other major trade like this?

there will most likely be something but what likelihood would you assign a big move?

Welcome to the Squawk first of all!

To answer your question I personally think it has went from 80-90% chance where we had agreed to compensation for KAT but needing a third/fourth team to complete the deal to about a 50% chance at this point. Patty Mills contract frankly is too much of an exact match for basically any upgrade we can make to just dismiss as "veteran guard that saves us 4.5 million".

What are the chances they are waiting for this Jaylen Brown situation to iron itself out before going with their Plan B: KAT?

The outsiders think there's a 93% chance that 100% of the league is waiting on the Lame situation to bear out.  And a 96% chance that 78% of the league is waiting for Loston to make their 'last and final' offer to Brown, which will be less than supermax.  Then a 83% chance he signs elsewhere.  Once all that's done, there's better than a 73% chance the Hawks will finally do something after all that.

Give or take a few decimal points.
