I'm really a fan of both the insiders and outsiders.  Takes like this sway me to the outsiders.  So much precision.

As far as his salary fitting into the TPE, the answer is "yes."  I doubt GS is looking to unload him, though.  He took a pay cut with the extension he signed last year.  He is $9M cheaper this year than last year.

Dude is weird. I applauded him for starting funk at Oracle in 2019 when he ran onto the court and there was an issue with the security guard  

I think if these negotiations by GM’s were done face to face Masai would honestly swing at a dude if he got mad

He’s that bad, huh?  I admittedly haven’t watched him.  My understanding is he has embraced his role as a 3rd/4th option fairly well in GS.  I’m just thinking of potential Hunter replacements.

No doubt and Hunter is better on D. Also, to Wiggins credit he went to GS and did exactly what Kerr wanted of him and that’s to be a good shooter from mid and he got that down. When sCurry and others were doubled he was ready to shoot and more often than not he was successful.

Having said that, they both lack.. I don’t know, like something, it’s not heart because they wouldn’t work at their craft so hard if they didn’t care. 
 

I dunno what it is but to me I like what guys like OO, Saddiq Bey, AJ.. and obviously Trae, they have something in them Hunter and Wiggins just don’t.

Nah, Wiggins is far superior to Hunter at both ends imho.

You’re probably right considering the immense raw tools Wiggins had/has to work with.  Maybe doesn’t possess the “Hawks DNA”. I think he would look quite comfortable running the floor with Trae.  Again, I am just scratching for Hunter replacements.  If for some reason GS was looking to shift payroll, I’d take a look.  For different reasons at different values and roles, I’d be curious to know what the cost would be of Wiggins, Wendell Carter, and Kyle Anderson…. Just to name a few

Have we found a single good/reasonable target for the TPE yet? 

Looking at teams who are over the tax and might like to shed something and it still doesnt look great lol. Or at this point is it just wait until someone needs to move money in another trade?

My fear is it'll be used post-trade deadline on some random signings.

Landry was just interviewed on nbaradio.  Not a lot of earthshaking stuff.  A few notes:

Asked about Murray - Basically said we gave up a lot to get him, now we have him longterm.  Happy to get deal done (obvi).  

Asked about fit with Trae - Is thrilled about pairing, especially with Quin now here.

About Quin, style, etc - Extremely creative and relational with players.  Caring about their development, how to get the most out of them.  Having a coach get on traes level, mentally, is important.  Trae lights up when Quin walks in.  Kinda like how @Sothron lights up when kg walks in - not sure how landry would know that but whatevs.

About Collins trade, why now? - Was just the right time for him and us.  Good to get him a change of scenery.  Great dude, always stayed professional.

On TPE - Gives us a chance to add assets as they come available.  But (ding, ding, ding) it gives us financial flexibility which is crucial as new rules come into play.  Want to position ourselves to not have to worry about what the cap ramifications may be. (Boooo)

More moves?  Do you have too much depth? - We gotta see what these guys are made of.  Giving them a pathway to succeed personally, will be a win-win for both of us - to me, he seemed to be creatively acknowledging someone will be moved.

On Bey - were after him for a long time, hard worker, culture guy you want around your young players.  Villanova guys don't need to be taught to work, be professional.

Is Trae difficult to deal with - Trae is extremely competitive.  Sometimes a guy sees a pathway to win and they believe in themselves.  You need guys like that.  At some point you need some NBA egos, confidence to win and you gotta work with that.  Quin sees that and (paraphrasing) can also impart that he has growth areas too.  Believes in the pairing going forward.

Isola says a guy Traes size won't make it in the nba unless he has that edge.  Landry agreed, says Trae wouldn't be able to actualize his basketball skills if he didn't have that edge.  Repeats that you have to understand and work with it because you can't win without it (paraphrasing again).

That's about it.  They asked about the midyear tournament, said we have an easy bracket.  Landry said "nice try, no comment".  Not giving bulletin board material.
