I actually believe that the Sporting news story has no credibility. It seems as though they read Shultz, put their finger in the air and made that story up with no foundation.

How is this a surprise? We signed two big mean for as cheap as possible under the CBA. The ASG won't spend the money to get Shaq.

Unlike JJ (you know, the guy ASG gave the league's largest contract to), Shaq would bring in at least twice the money he'd cost. Something tells me money isn't the obstacle here, but you'll never let an opportunity to call ASG cheap go by.

Here's how it will play out.

Shaq will sign with Cleveland. Cleveland will play Shaq and hold on to him until the trade Deadline. Then Cleveland will trade Shaq for something young and of Value to a PO team in need of his services.

IF....

Shaq has a good year and goes to an Eastern team and helps them in the playoffs, it's SUND's Job.

Especially if Jason Collins and Josh Powell turn in a big nothing.

Technically we could of signed our 31st pick or any undrafted rookie/dleaguer for cheaper even with the NBA footing part of the bill on the vets.

I doubt Cleveland brings him back. They know first hand that they are better without him than with him. Bringing back Shaq only means that they will have a big road block to playing their best player, Anderson Varejao, more this year.

both articles are B.S! the first article is a diffrent wording from a ajc article and the other talking about shaq going overseas! get real shaq wont go overseas, not even for more money. we are still in the runnning for shaq we are just waiting to see if his asking price goes down, which will in towards the end if he still isnt signed by anyone!

Diesel that's a good idea from cleveland's standpoint. Adam dunn and the nats is a comparable situation but for significantly less cash. The nats signed him when noboduy else would and he was a hot trade commodity. They were idiots not to move him but that's neither here nor there.

Signing shaq to a 2 year deal would be smart for cleveland because contending teams at the trade deadline will do things then that they wouldn't in july/august.

And they're taking a risk shaq can perform without getting hurt the 1st half of the season.

Did the ASG not sign two guys for the absolute minimum? Did the ASG once again not use the MLE? Did the ASG once again say it would spend into the luxury tax and yet again fail to do so?

Actions speak louder than Gearon Jr.'s flapping mouth and the useless words that come out of it.

Unfortunately Diesel it will not be Sund's job that it will affect. This ownership group is a joke.

Varejao is a joke! His lack of ability will be sxposed this year.

How long is Sund's contract? By the way, I was talking to a Hawk marketing rep Saturday and he said two interesting things. He believes acquiring Shaq is looking better every day because of the lack of suitors. He said having 9 owners is the reason Shaq has not been signed. It seems guys inside see ownership as the problem as most believe. Interesting but obvious too.

Did they not just sign JJ to the NBA's largest contract? Did they not overpay to keep Marvin, Zaza, and Bibby last summer? Did they not overpay to get Speedy before that? Did they not make two trades (Bibby and Crawford) that resulted in the team taking on more than $30M extra in salaries over the course of two seasons? Or are those actions inherently less important because they are inconvenient to your argument?

You wanna call them stupid, fine. They have been stupid, or at least made some very stupid decisions. But I get tired of people screaming cheap one second and then conveniently shutting their eyes and mouth when the Hawks spend (too much) money. It's a sign of intellectual laziness or dishonesty, one or the other.

Your selective memory is the only thing that's useless.

Is there really any "if's" about it?

These guys aren't much better than Belkin. They just tried to play the role of the good honest innocent owners.
