New Orleans Pelicans forward Dante Cunningham has been suspended for one game for pleading guilty in Washington [state] to negligent driving while exhibiting the effects of having consumed alcohol.

Cunningham will serve the suspension Friday night during the Pelicans' home game against the Phoenix Suns.

The 29-year-old is averaging 5.6 points and 3.6 rebounds in 21.4 minutes per game. He has started the past two games as the Pelicans (0-5) search for the right combination for their first win of the 2016-17 season.

Cunningham was cited on suspicion of a DUI this past June. The Columbian, citing a report filed in Clark County District Court, reported that Cunningham was clocked going 67 miles per hour in a 40 mph zone. An officer's report noted that Cunningham had bloodshot, watery eyes and smelled of alcohol. He failed a field sobriety test with a blood-alcohol content initially measured at .094, over the state's legal limit of .08. His lawyer initially entered a plea of not guilty.
