What follows is the list of the top 15 PF's last year in the West.  Just so Luka D will know what he'll have to guard night in night out.  I'm super looking forward to that Anthony Davis, Luka Doncic matchup....and they think Trae is undersized.  Oh ya...I'm thinking  you can take Randle and Kuzma off that list because James will be playing substantial minutes at the 4 in LA.

1 Anthony Davis, PF NO 75 36.4  28.1 10.4-19.5 .534 0.7-2.2 .340 6.6-8.0 .828
2 LaMarcus Aldridge, PF SA 75 33.5  23.1 9.2-18.0 .510 0.4-1.2 .293 4.5-5.3 .837
3 Carmelo Anthony, PF OKC 78 32.1 16.2 6.1-15.0 .404 2.2-6.1 .357 1.9-2.5 .767
4 Julius Randle, PF LAL 82 26.7 16.1 6.1-11.0 .558 0.1-0.5 .222 3.7-5.2 .718
  Kyle Kuzma, PF LAL 77 31.2 16.1 6.1-13.5 .450 2.1-5.6 .366 1.9-2.7 .707
6 Zach Randolph, PF SAC 59 25.6 14.5 6.1-12.9 .473 0.9-2.5 .347 1.4-1.8 .785
7 Derrick Favors, PF UTAH 77 28.0 12.3 5.1-9.1 .563 0.2-0.8 .222 1.8-2.8 .651
8 Taj Gibson, PF MIN 82 33.3 12.2 5.2-9.0 .577 0.1-0.4 .200 1.7-2.3 .768
9 Draymond Green, PF GS 70 32.7 11.0 4.0-8.8 .454 1.1-3.7 .301 1.9-2.5 .775
  Montrezl Harrell, PF LAC 76 17.0 11.0 4.6-7.2 .635 0.0-0.1 .143 1.8-2.9 .626
RK PLAYER TEAM GP MPG PTS FGM-FGA FG% 3PM-3PA 3P% FTM-FTA FT%
11 Trey Lyles, PF DEN 73 19.1 9.9 3.7-7.5 .491 1.1-3.0 .381 1.4-2.0 .706
12 Ryan Anderson, PF HOU 66 26.1 9.3 3.1-7.3 .431 2.0-5.1 .386 1.1-1.4 .774
  Al-Farouq Aminu, PF POR 69 30.0 9.3 3.3-8.4 .395 1.8-4.9 .369 0.9-1.2 .738

Take AD off your list and keep Randle and Kuzma on there.  Kuzma will play PF in LA.  Randle will be playing PF in NO while AD plays center there.

Luka looked solid in his first preseason action. Even blocked a few shots. It was against a Chinese team though.

We all have the tendency to sell him short.  He is and will be good.  Perhaps an all star.  Will this make us look bad because we traded him for Trae?  Depends on how good Trae turns out and who we get with that draft pick we picked up.

Agree with this for the most part. The player I wanted all year was Luka but I think we will end up being very happy with the trade and so will Dallas most likely. Luka and Barnes are interchangeable and I know we are headed for positionless ball but I still don’t see Luka or Barnes at PF. Guys like Ant Davis, Sap, Griffin and Lamarcus would eat those guys up in the post...that being said I assume they’d have a mismatch speed wise on the other end.

I dunno I’m elated with Trae and think he will bring energy we’ve NEVER seen..(ok Nique..ended 94) before in Atlanta.

LETS GO HAWKS!!!

Draft night I wanted Luka...was disappointed initially but then saw some of Trae Young highlights and fathomed he and John Collins running the floor together or just in a pnr, pnp chemistry.

All in with Trae and Prince. Next year will be the year we turn heads.

My-Name-Is-Luka will be good. Très Young’n will be very good. And we get Mav’s lottery pick to go with him. This was a VERY savvy trade/pick.

To elaborate: Doncicio will NOT be better than Très + that pick.

I could see it happening .....

.... if all the other teams in the league sign a bunch-a also-ran, non-NBA level guys

I just don't see the star ability in him that others do

As I've been saying all along, he's a 'star' the way Alice was/is a 'star'.  'Star' role-guy.  Excellent facilitator.  "BBIQ" guys will be all, "Mmmyeah I know he only had 10 pts and 5 assists and the guy he was guarding dropped 28, but did you see those heady plays he made all game?!  No?  Ah well that's just 'cause you don't know the game like I do, blah, blah, blah."

At least Alice has the benefit of being a solid defender.  MyNameIsLuka won't have that leg to stand on but he'll be protected 'cause he'll be the golden child down there.

And, on all the praise he's getting from Carlisle, Cuban, etc.. them dudes also tried to tell us Harrison Barnes was a franchise player.

*yawn*

Draft is over.  No need to rush to judgment now.  Let’s see people actually play against NBA competition and give them some time to grow.  That goes for Trae, Huerter, Luka, and the rest of the rookies.

It's ok folks.  The new mod will promote conversation, not try to suppress it.
