marco102
Lou is really injured. He as missing games down the stretch with the same injury. He also wasn't very effective when he did play. At this point, I'd rather have Delon and his defense out there against Miami anyway.

Premium Member Popular Post JayBirdHawk Posted April 18, 2022 Premium Member Popular Post Report Share Posted April 18, 2022 Looking towards Game 2: 1. Play with some toughness, energy, aggressiveness and focus 2. With Bam on the perimeter on switches, OO has to take advantage inside on smaller players - he just doesn't have what Clint has yet. If he can't it's going to be real tough. We may need Collins and/or Dieng in that role. 3. Nate gotta have an actual offensive game plan. The option to constantly 'attack the mismatch' is not there since Miami is not allowing it to happen so we are spending too much of the shot clock probing and searching for one. Get going downhill and move the ball 4. Move the ball, move your body - we have to be in constant motion against the heat, particularly Trae. Miami can key on him too much if he is setting the offense from the top of the key EVERY SINGLE TIME! 5. We have got to stay attached to their shooters - first play when they set a screen, just run them over and take the foul - set the tone on our end. 6. Bogi can't got 0-fer, Trae can't go 1-fer with more TOs than assists, Hunter can't be non-existent in the 1st half, Gallo can't be non-existent in the 2nd half (3 points). 7. Guard the 3 and Rebound the ball and take care of the ball. 6
RedDawg#8
Get physical. Period. Force the refs to calm things down. But WE have to be the instigators. If they punch, punch back, harder. An enforcer would be nice, but we don't have that. So just scrap with these clowns until it gets so ugly that the league has to clean it up. Make the Heat cry about us being too physical with them. Protect Trae. Do not let these clowns rough him up and go unanswered. Jimmy, PJ, and Kyle are banking on the fact that they can bully him and get away with it. Trae, it's time to go sicko mode on these fools 1

Trae, it's time to go sicko mode on these fools If they are going to continue with the flagrant fouls and the refs aren't going to call them, we need to pull someone off our bench to retaliate in kind. If Lowry wants to throw his body into Trae's knee, Lou or Mays, etc. need to do the same to their stars. If Herro wants to smack Trae in the face, then TLC needs to do the same to Jimmy, etc. Got to reciprocate in kind and force the refs to actually make the calls on BOTH teams. That is the heart of the problem - that the calls need to go both ways. Helped set the tone for Game 1 that they could get away with multiple flagrants with minimum reaction. That will always favor Miami so I agree we need to reciprocate but I do think it needs to be our reserves because we just can't afford it if our best players get ejected given we are already missing CC and JC. Overall, there is a lot we can do to improve. Trae struggled in a very unusual way for him and I think he will be coming back hard to prove himself and our team.

Yeah, I think the Hawks need to retaliate and then the refs will start blowing the whistle on both ends to get the game under control which will hurt Miami more with the way they play defense.

Spud2nique
I’m with Trae here. I didn’t really see anything that scared me despite being bum rushed (pun intended). This wasn’t like the 90’s Bulls matchups. Like back then, after game 1, I felt like we have no chance. This Heat team though vs us. I’m with Trae. Trae just has supreme confidence, I want that villain out again!

Miami embraces physical play with this mentality: "If you foul 3 times on every possession then the refs won't call all of them because they don't have the patience or desire to get attention for calling fouls on 20 consecutive possessions and so they will swallow the whistle most of the time. Do this and you can get away with 70% of your fouls and make life much harder for the opponent. The best part is that if the opponent is playing clean the refs will probably reach for fouls to call against them so that it doesn't seem so 'lopsided' with all the calls going against one team." 3 2
