he needs to be such a dead weight to them that his price comes cheap. Hopefully he becomes toxic there asap. We need to get him by addition not by swapping.

I hope we're hovering around corners taking pics of that 'situation'.

I hope we're sitting across the street from that 'situation' with a trench coat on and it ain't even rainin'..

I hope we're calling that 'situation' late at night and just breathing into the phone.

I hope that 'situation' is contemplating a restraining order against us by the time we're done 'monitoring' it.

It is not easy to get free agents to Atlanta but Jaylen Brown would be different–they want to be in position, at least, to make a move if he wants to be there. Isn't that another year before he's a free agent though?   I want him this summer in a trade.   I'd even risk him walking.

You're probably right and I'd do that in a heartbeat. DJ and JC are the base of the trade and then we'd probably have to throw in one of our young guys (AJ or JJ) plus a pick. 

Smart/Murray/Tatum/Collins/Williams is not a bad lineup for Boston if they don't think they'll be able to resign Brown.

Atlanta been interested in Brown for years. This would obviously be the upgrade we been talking about bringing to Atlanta. But it's not gonna be cheap and Boston will want Trae whereas Atlanta wants to keep Trae at all cost. He's gonna be a FA soon and he doesn't want to stay so Boston will have to figure it out. We all know where he wants to go is Atlanta but Boston makes things very difficult especially dating back to the Ainge period. 

But Atlanta is definitely tracking for Brown and been doing so for YEARS. I don't know how likely a deal is because of Boston's want. But this is upgrade for Hunter that would love.

This morning scalabrine said, when asked about Brown-to-ATL rumors, people need to understand the steps.  Basically said, if he turns down Boston's contract extension offer, that's when folks should start wondering about him leaving.

Scal is the one that doesn't understand the steps.

Brown won't accept an extension simply because he'll make more money by hitting FAcy when the cap his higher.  There is a limit to how much he can make signing an extension to his EXISTING contract vs signing a completely new contract as a FA even if it's with Boston. It's the same reason why DJ won't sign an extension to his current contract. They are limited to 120% of their existing contract.

Edit: The new CBA may change the extension limits to 140% - $150%.
