Q45T
Saddiq is a dog… I’ll take this over giving five 2nd picks for Jae Crowder anyday. Edited February 9, 2023 by Q45T
Packfill
These moves do not strike me as "we want to win this season" moves, but rather "let's see how things development and we will figure it out later" moves. I say that because typically when the main trade piece you receive back is 23 years old you are looking to the future and not the present. Maybe this will be different. Definitely provides some insurance depth on the wing if peeps get hurt.

Plainview1981
His numbers make him look like a less effecient Hunter.

Has a lifetime 3 pt % of around 34%. He is a pretty good free throw shooter. His defensive ratings are horrible. I can't imagine why anyone would be excited about acquiring him.
warcore
Yeah I'm saying if we gave up 5 seconds, why not just get Wiseman? He's the best player being moved... we basically paid Detroit's price to get Wiseman... I hope you made some friends these past couple hours, Little Nicki. 1

He's better than this raw stats but he's not "good". He's a rotation wing that can play defense, hit three's and somehow is an excellent free throw shooter despite his raw shooting numbers. We had literally NO ONE on the roster that could be even a poor man's version of Hunter. Now we do. These trades so far by the Hawks have been solid. You aren't getting back good starters on what we gave out. We got deeper and with skills we needed. That's a win. We also are not going over the LT so Tony is happy. 4

Plainview1981
This doesn't change the team. Now they probably deal Bogi and probably no shooting to replace him. A rebuild is coming for this team before long. Once it is finally accepted by management that it can't go anywhere. swanlee
Yea our bench has not been good this year, these moves at least improve the bench a bit.

Premium Member Popular Post BangHolman Posted February 9, 2023 Premium Member Popular Post Report Share Posted February 9, 2023 I don't know why anyone is complaining about this. We made a move to improve our bench, which he does. He's not starting. Bench depth is probably this team's biggest weakness, and this helps that.
Plainview1981
It's just another player that can't really shoot even though he averages 15PPG. I don't think anyone is saying that it will make the team worse. I think the point is that the Hawks are a mediocre at best team before the deadline and remain the same. Premium Member Sothron Posted February 9, 2023 Premium Member Report Share Posted February 9, 2023 I posted this in another thread but repeating here so everyone can see it better: Why did we have to give up 5 2nds for Bey? One source response: Bey has a much more hard to find skillset than Bones does. Much easier to find an offensive PG that plays no defense (Bones) than a wing player that can play defense and hit three's (Bey). Also feels that Bey gives us a trade asset in the offseason should we need it. @NBASupes has said this for months but I think people need to realize the truth of it. Big wing players that are 3 & D are just very hard to come by in the NBA and as a result it drives their value artificially up. It is just like the 1980's when every team needed at least two if not three solid centers. Now you need at least 2 if not three big wing players in the modern NBA. We now have two. 3
Final_quest
Could Bey be our backup 4?
FL_BRYANT
Saddiq is no scrub . Fifteen pts off the bench really helps especially when Hunter and JC are laying eggs, but the infusion of size and upside of Wiseman would have been nice. The Hawks are only going so far this year. Start adding a long term big for the future. OO is undersized Wiseman's size could help against teams like the Bucks. Bruno is underwhelming to me, maybe some toughness in his limited minutes .But don't underestimate an additional 15 pts off the bench.
Moderators macdaddy Posted February 9, 2023 Moderators Report Share Posted February 9, 2023 I don't know Bey's abilities as a defender very well but judging guys on defense who are playing on tanking teams isn't always that informative.
