Every one involved Trae and FO want to win with him. Djm is the fall back option if either side wants out of the relationship.

The reason they want Trae is the reason Ressler should want to keep him, not necessarily as fans.  We'll see if the chemistry is there on the court come October -- I don't care how many jerseys we sell.  I just want the best chance to win.

I guess the Hawks couldn't let them 3 first round draft picks they gave up for Murray come back and bite them.  It cost them John Collins in ADDITION to those picks.

I think this is simply sound risk management rather than any deviation from the consistent refrains of Trae’s commitment to Atlanta and vice versa. 
 

We don’t want to be Portland. Dame seemed to be one of the most loyal superstars… until he wasn’t. It’s always important to have a decent Plan B even if it isn’t anybody’s Plan A.

Agreed.  And I'll also say, it should surprise NO ONE that other teams call and want to inquire about Trae.  He's uber talented and highly marketable.  It wouldn't surprise me to find out that other teams were the ones leaking to the media that the Hawks might trade Trae back in the season.  This idea that "no one wants to play with Trae" is just idiotic on its face.
