How does it work if Murray goes into free agency next year?  Since it's not an extension, what are the rules around what we can offer?  I assume we don't have to be under the salary cap to sign him as a free agent, right?

His max contract on 30% of the cap, projected $149 million. So $44 mil per.

Anybody else get the feeling BOS gonna move on from Horf, re-sign Grant Fathead-NoNeck Williams?

Scared money don't make no money, peo.

Y'all funny...who we trading now to keep Murray? Trae?  2 $40 mil dollar a year contracts just in the back court alone on a .500 team?  Nonsense!

Trade Murray now!

I am not against this idea.  We can’t have a 90-100 million backcourt that needed the play-in (and one that appears to require a third “star” to compete).  Tired of ball domination.

You.

The point is, let things play out.  No need for panic.

So it plays out and they have to pay him $44 mil per season to keep him...What do you pay Okungwu and Bey?

We just run all guards, peo.  Again, no need for panic.  We can only live today .. today.  Stop tryna live next year.. today.

Gm's can't think that way...At least the successful ones don't...When they do, they end up trading away players for cap space who are in their prime

Just trade him now. These contracts are out of control.

Gonna end up paying somebody.  This stuff is like Freddy and Jason.  Keep runnin' down by the old mill, through the forest, past the haunted cemetery but when you turn around that mfer standin' right there with a rusty machete.  Just gotta manage it.  All title winning teams do.

He's not doing anything special to be honest. The market is what it is.

I hear you but if that were the case Trae could just make his dad his agent for a few pairs of bleach-blasted bootcut jeans.

The LA “pressure” won’t bother him at all but he needs solid screen setters to thrive.  LeBron and AD certainly ain’t Jimmy and Bam on that front.

So then this is a mistake, no?

$11 million per sounds like peanuts but Lakers fans are lamenting and making comparisons to the failed Nunn experiment who was bigger and a better overall scorer.
