Popular Post Spud2nique
Just finished watching the game. Nice one for some of the young fellas indeed. Gueye- Wow, summer league or not sometimes you can see if the game translates and for him it does. Explosive athlete with good feet, good feel for the game, nice touch from outside and got the nice lil touch on the passes. Gets his feet set nicely on his jumpers and really squares up and plants those puppies down. His second jump reminds me of JC a bit in how quickly he does it. Explosive, lanky and he knows how to use it. He could be a 9-12 man for us this year. The pass to Kabs : He went to the outter pocket instead of the inside passing lanes, that’s kinda crazy for a big to do. This missed dunk was just nutty. Had to rewind a couple times, wow. I love Kabs, his outside shooting was terrific 3/3 from deep and evidenced here: Having said that, it’s gonna take a lot for him to stick, there’s just a lot of holes in his game that might not allow him to make an NBA roster. He hustled really nicely though. I thought him and Queta were gonna wrestle or something. Kobe Buf- Young baller. Turnover prone with his passes although I will say his cross court passes on spot on. He just had way too many turns and he’s raw. G league all year most likely. Manek- He probably won’t make it but terrific shooting I think he had like 6 threes. Fun watch. Go Hawks!

bleachkit
I wonder if AI could start scouting players, and would it do a better job than humans ? Preconceived notions about players strongly influence how they are viewed. If you're a lottery pick they will give you chance after chance no matter how much you suck. If you're an undrafted guy you have to absolutely ball out to even have a shot to make a roster. Sometimes I get the sense teams are more interested in validating their choices instead of being truly objective about prospects. 2

Sometimes I get the sense teams are more interested in validating their choices instead of being truly objective about prospects. That's why teams use analytics, right? To kind of decipher through some of the misconceptions of the "eye test"? But sometimes analytics can't pick up on things, like "feel for the game". Miami obviously does the best job in identifying undrafted talent to fit their system. Jokic pretty much sliding past everyone ( probably because of body type ), was a HUGE MISS by NBA scouts. At the end of the day though, preconceived notions do skew player evaluations, as well as guys just flat out admitting that they're wrong about a player. Summer League isn't organized enough to evaluate how players will fit in a true team environment. That's why I always look to see if a guys most hyped skill is obvious on this level. For Trae, it was his passing, despite his horrific shooting in Summer League. For Collins, it was his athleticism, which he put on full display in Summer League. Same with JJ.
gurpilo
This was easy, Hawks were up and we did not have the size to stop or fight Queta and they won the game. As simple as that.

TheNorthCydeRises
AJ should be the best player on the floor on most nights. He's a 2nd year player that has already played a lot of actual NBA minutes. 3

On the other hand, he is still younger than most of the guys out there so I’m not getting worked up over it. 4

Premium Member Diesel Posted July 8, 2023 Premium Member Report Share Posted July 8, 2023 I am happy and Sad that Brady Manek is getting a shot. He played with Trae back at OU. Didn't get drafted... but the guy is a shooter. Shooter supreme. Larry from the Prairie. Unfortunately, unless we make a massive trade, he won't be a Hawk. Maybe some team will take a look at him and give him a shot.
