JETSET
Some rebounding and defense up front. This has been a nice winning steak, but the schedule gets tough at the end of December: vs. Chicago @ Cleveland @Houston @Dallas vs. Clippers vs. Bucks @Bucks Cleveland @Utah @Portland @Clippers vs. Memphis They could be back near .500 with that schedule coming up. You are about to be proven wrong big time. Just wait.
Premium Member BrazilianHawk Posted December 6, 2014 Premium Member Report Share Posted December 6, 2014 Three things we need: 1. Get Danny Ferry back to his pffice. 2. Cover all offers for Millsap. I doubt he leaves if we can pay the same. 3. Give Bud and the crew two more years to maturate. We'll be championship contenders 2016-2017. What we DON'T need is to screw the things that are going well with sucky trades in order to compete for the rings right now.

Gray Mule
Seems that most agree on the two things that our current Hawk team could use. A big, tough rebounder to come in and play some center and an outside scorer. There is a rumor going that, a little later in the season, that there are two such players that should be available. Right now they are playing for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. To get these two on our roster and active would mean two of our current active players would have to end up on the inactive list. If and when this happens, we have to believe that this would not mess up the chemistry too bad. If you wish to scout Jenkins and Payne as they play for the Mad Ants, they can be seen on your computer tonight! GO ATL HAWKS!!

Guest
We have three Achilles heels. Size, rebounding and interior defense. Most of what we need could be address by moving Al to PF and getting a center but let's say we can get someone like Larry Sanders or a young Deke, keeping Millsap at PF is an option as well. I do like Sap as a player. A lot more than I liked Smoove. I love Horf as a player but he needs to play at his normal level and last years level which is ideal of course. I would love to keep Sap and Horf while getting a good center would be ideal. Something like a three headed monster. Since Dennis emerged, our perimeter needs aren't really there. We are good with what we have for now till Kyle starts regressing. Size, rebounding and interior D is an issue but we do a good job of defending PnR's and playing PnR's that we really aren't struggling for now but when the tough gets going, we are going to need that size and the interior D. Someone who can guard centers in the post. Ideally, I would love to get a good rim protecting center but those guys just aren't on the market. The best who is, is Dalembert and he's Antić level. That does us no use. Yep, size rebounding and interior defense.
Guest
Unless we want to lose games... I don't think you can trade Sap now with Horf playing the way he is. You just can't do it unless you want to lose. I haven't seen any real sign that Horf is going to go back to being an 18/8 player. Truthfully... If you look at the numbers... The Hawks are losing the games in which Horf has his best production: W's: 11.7 PPG 4.9 RPG L's: 16 PPG 8.5 RPG Last year this sort of looked like Horf's team... But now it is not. This team right now is looking more like the Suns of the east with Teague and Dennis leading the way. I concur.

Yep, i don't see a trade available that would vault us into instant championship contender. We need ADDED talent not just switching out players. IheartVolt
That is true but when it comes to +/- and impact stats based on wins/losses, Korver is by far our most impactful player. I am starting to see that as well. With less size and fit but more overall talent and BBIQ than Phx. I am sorry. I love Kyle but Jeffrey is the cog of this team bro. To say otherwise is insane
Plainview1981
You are about to be proven wrong big time. Just wait. That's a tough schedule for any team. Even the best of teams. That's not just a stretch against a bunch of really tough teams, but many of them are road games. Maybe they go 4-8. Maybe.
Gray Mule
Hotlanta1981 We're currently sitting @ 12-6. Adding your 4-8 to the equasion = 16-14. For us who thought we should be over .500 for the season, this will have us within range. We're still not great but, dang, right now we're good! GO HAWKS !! GO HAWKS !! and we will be better than 12-6 before we start that 12 game stretch. We have 5 games in the next 7 days and we will be the favorite in every one of them. There's no reason why we can't go at least 4-1 during this stretch which will bump our record up to 16-7.
Guest
Gotta give Sap credit for shutting down ya boy Anthony Davis though Supe. Supe's boy is Ant Davis? I thought it was still oj Mayo "in the right system"? No?

However, in order to be a championship team, we have to beat the teams that should be able to beat us (that's most of the West and Cleveland) and we should limit losses to teams that we should beat... like LAL and Charlotte. Our talent is good and our chemistry is good, but we still have needs that are still going ignored.

Pacman21
Would Jeff Green be a good fit I was thinking about this after the Celtics game Tuesday. He's a FA after this season so his value shouldn't be that high and he fits in with what the team needs (a shot creator on the wing)

Shut down might be a stretch, but our bigs made life difficult for him. He definitely didn't look like an MVP against us.
