Too many of TD's picks are no longer in the NFL. He should be gone. TD has screwed the pooch royally on our defensive line and that may be the single most important spot on the field. Thomas
His defensive track record here kinda makes me wonder if he ever had the final say on drafting players in New England.
jy23
If y'all haven't noticed yet TD was not the real decision maker during the early years. He still really isn't now
Thomas
There was an article on TD when we were still winning during the regular seasons but failing in the playoffs a few years ago. He was saying because of the success of the Packers model he felt we needed to keep upgrading the offense more (even though we were scoring a lot) than drafting for the defense. That approach and the unwise hiring of our existing OC has been quite a fail. Don't see a big future for him as a GM here or for any other team even with all the less than average retreads that seem to bounce around in the NFL. Blank needs to stop having after dinner drinks with him.
jy23
From what I've been told by people "in the know"....Arthur Blank had a much bigger influence on personnel decisions than we were led to believe. We knew about the filter but apparently AB is like a Jerry Jones lite version. Just what I heard
Thomas
Must be pretty hard to keep hands completely off when the total financial ups and downs affect you way more than anyone else involved. Just the same thats the pro sports catch 22 that everyone knows about up front. Still Blank beats the you know what out of the Rankin Smith family. Only giving them thanks for getting us off the ground initially because once they realized what it would take to win in the playoffs with any consistency they lost all their desire and energy to survive any more of the financial strain. Thankfully there is no time machine to take us back there. John Madden loved our team back when Bartkowski was here but no one loved our owners. Thomas
A wild game with mistakes galore by both sides. Freeman and Coleman both were really good and though young and somewhat mistake prone our rookie MLB looks like a truly good one for us. Only his third NFL game so some more bumps in the road I'm pretty sure. Trufant and Freeney had impressive sacks for us. Always good to see the Saints lose especially with the announcers pulling out their handkerchiefs for them all game long. Just make your point guys and then call the game like your paid to do please.
Moderators macdaddy Posted September 27, 2016 Moderators Report Share Posted September 27, 2016 I haven't watched the whole thing yet but nice to see us win another one. The Saints suck but still it's Breese in the superdome so not an easy task.
jy23
Offense looks freaking insane...we scored 45 and Julio had one catch. Think about that for a minute. The offensive line is balling, Matt is playing lights out, and the backs compliment each other so well. The thing y'all have to realize is that this defense is young, we're relying on a lot of youth at premium positions. Neal, jones and Campbell are all rookies. Vic and Grady are just second year guys, throw in Allen as well since this is his second year at that position. That's over 50% of your starting defense with less than 2 years experience. They were looking nasty last night, I liked it. Even tho they gave up points I saw a different attitude. They were hitting, being aggressive. Bree's is Bree's and there ain't much you can do about that but I believe this defense is coming together, they made the plays they needed to make. Let em grow up a bit and you're going to be surprised.
Premium Member Vol4ever Posted September 27, 2016 Premium Member Report Share Posted September 27, 2016 Falcons defense was picked apart by Brees who is a very good QB. We still cant find a way to put persistant pressure on opposing QBs. Our GM is pitiful and dont understand how he kept his job. We need a real personnel guy onboard to bri ng in the players we need. Good win in the dome last night!
Guest
I'm not gonna lie, despite playing the AINTS last night you guys look really solid on offense. Specially ur 2 headed monster at rb. Wow, in the first half, Freeman had a punishing run where he stiff armed a defender away like he was a lil rag doll. It was fun watching your O. If your defense can be a C+ defense, you are going to the playoffs.

Guest
If the defense can be at least midldle of the NFL pack, it can be a special season. They're bad bad right now. Hopefully it improves as the season goes along. The offense though, WOW!!!!!!

Good win in the dome last night! Drew Brees eats no matter who he plays, he's one of the greatest ever. I've already explained how inexperienced the defense is. Throw in our nickel back being a rookie as well, forgot about him earlier. We've got the players we need for the most part, we're missing maybe 2 pieces. Either y'all want instant gratification or you just can't seem to spot talent when you see it. This is a building process, we have young guys learning on the fly. It's coming together, they will get better as the season goes on but until then they'll just ride with the offense. Jones is going to make mistakes and take bad angles, same for Campbell. Neal is going to get beat in coverage and miss some tackles, Collins when he gets back is going to give up some plays, Vic and Grady are just going to have to keep pushing and keep working....but even with all that they're going to flash and show you what they're capable of. Let Tru keep locking up everybody's number one option (did anybody see cooks last night?)...let Freeney keep bringing the pressure off the edge while he teaches Vic....I ain't worried. We good

We good I understand the youth of the DBs and LBs and the mistakes they'll make as they learn on the fly. The pass rush is still as anemic as ever. The pass rush is still as anemic as ever. It's the defense that we run, I would give you gifs and still shots and all that but I'm on my phone and don't know how to do it from here so I'll just try to explain it. First I'll give a point of reference in Seattle...they have been 18,20, and 18 again the last 3 seasons in sack numbers. That's below average. But in those same years they were 1,1, and 2 in total yards given up. The plan in the cover 3 is to not give up anything deep, force the offense to take the underneath garbage and collapse quickly. Speed is a premium in the defense and you saw that in the draft when they picked up 2 speedy lbs and got Neal. It's a one gapping system and is great against the run, but the thing is you don't blitz much and you give up some pass rushing opportunities to better stop the run. Tyson Jackson starting at DE is an example of this. Up front we're running a hybrid mix of 4-3/3-4 known as a 4-3 under. The line is shifted giving the illusion of a 4th linebacker on the end when technically he's what they refer to as a LEO. He's basically your pass rushing specialist. He can play with his hand in the dirt or standing up. We're geared towards stopping the run and putting offenses in 3rd and long type situations and then again forcing them to take underneath stuff and closing on it quickly. I tired to put in a pic to at least show the alignment and why we put people in the positions we do

Dnice
Glad 45 was enough, lol still uneasy with 9 or 10 left in the 4th. No more "magic" this time at the Falcons expense.. I had enough of that ____.
