Richardson averaged career highs across the board (points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks). But perhaps most impressive about J-Rich is his tenacious defense.  This is huge at the Small Forward position when there are so many superstars he has to defend.  He will be a great addition to the bench now that his offense is catching up with his defense.

Solid pick,

Good all around utility player. I had him drafted him in the fantasy drafts last year.

He’s a good source for 3s , stls, and blks.

I wanted to improve my defense with my last two picks and improve is what think I did. I had no plans to take Willie Cauley-Stein in this draft as I am biased against poor free throw shooters. I thought someone would take a upside flyer on him much sooner than the end of the 10th round. But once he dropped that far, I had no choice but to take this gifted young defensive player. Willie meets my requirement of being 25 or younger and his defensive upside was the most praised part of his game coming out of the University of Kentucky. His first two seasons in the league were slow starts but last season he began hitting his stride as he averaged 12.8 PPG, 7.0 TRB, 1.1 STL and 0.9 BLK in 28 Minutes. His DBPM was a very respectable 1,7.

Ricky Rubio had a DBPM of 1.6 last season. He graded out in this category ahead of such all-stars as CP3 and Victor Oladipo. While he is not considered a youngster anymore, Ricky will only be 28 for the full 2018/19 season. I think he can contribute at a high level for another 3 to 4 years. When I think of Ricky, I cannot help but think of another great distributor and team player named Jason Kidd. While I do not expect Rubio to ever become the shooter Kidd did later in his career, I do expect him to continue playing great team ball on both ends of the floor. These last two picks gives me 6 of my 11 players with a positive DBPM and they were only behind the young shot blocker Myles Turner in 2017/18.

I know the DBPM shows one thing but KAT is not a good defensive player at all ... don't get me wrong he is awesome and a very justifiable first pick but his defense is subpar.

That is fair but I do think he has the potential to  improve a lot as a defender under his current coach. He has all the physical tools.  He just has not dug in and committed himself to doing it to date.  Maybe he never will but he is still plenty young enough to improve in that area.

Turner would be taking the tougher assignment up front for sure.

I agree with both of you. I think KAT has the tools to improve. I think Turner is the better defender, and one stat such as DBPM does not always tell the full story. With Porter, Cauley-Stein, and Rubio on my bench, I do like my teams defensive balance a lot better.

An easily cut-able contract in Washington sounds about right for him.  He needs a redemption year where his teammates and management aren't ready to unload him at year end.  Maybe NorthCyde will be willing to give up a pick next year to get rid of him.  

Correction: Atlanta didn't take on more money just extended years.  Dwight was owed  2 years at $46 million, (LIKELY NOT TO BE DRAFTED PLAYER ~lw3) 3 years  $37.2 million.

I over stated and you just understated it.  We took back $43.5M ((LIKELY UNDRAFTED DOOKIE ~lw3) wasn't the only player in the trade we took back and we ate a chunk of (UNDRAFTED ITALIAN DUDE ~lw3)'s salary).  Pushing dollars into later years and downgrading our pick is the big kicker since we had room to play with last year and we may not have that next year if we wanted to pitch high $$ free agents to join forces here next summer.

Clearly, a net negative trade for us (just based on what was coming back) but you are right that we took back a couple million less in total salary between (AN UNDRAFTED PACK OF M&Ms ~lw3).

My next selection is a 6’3” 200 pound combo guard out of Kentucky. To me, he looks to be the next Lou Williams with more athleticism and a better defender. The guy can fill it up and get hot in an instant. He has put up some fabulous shows in his NCAA career and just waiting to do the same in the big leagues. A lottery pick in 2017 and a flat out scorer at just 20 years of age....

Batum is a jack of all trades.You can plug him anywhere in the line up, and he'll be a perfect fit.
He can rebound(4.8) , he can rack up assists(5.5), he can shoot the 3, and defend multiple positions.
Batum is a top 100 talent, and we feel that getting him at pick 131 is a bargin.

I'M Making a tweek to my line up. The young guys got to earn a starting spot. 
I'm sending Luka to the bench and promoting Batum, until proves Duncic is worthy of starting.
