I agree, he is still feeing out his role. Plus, Im sure his complaints were back when we were struggling. He seems comfortable now with the 2nd unit.

His role has chanced since the injury. And he was never able to find his rhythm on this new team yet due to his injury. Give him time.

Eh, I'm not afraid of that.  I'll say right now that I still think it was a good move, good pickup.  Extenuating circumstances intervened so the fruits haven't been fully realized yet.

I took a quick look. Bogi has played 18 games.

Bogi's first 9 games: 78 shot attempts,  58 of them from 3 = 74%

Bogi's last 9 games: 84 shot attempts,  49 of them from 3 = 58%

Bogi was inconsistent before the injury too, hence why he was moved to the bench after getting first dibs as a starter.

Folks, like myself, were hard on him because he hadn't shown much all year let alone after he got back from injury.

Notice nobody is going after Dre while he gets his legs back.

Bogi started game 2 because Capela and Gallo were out injured, Trae, Bogi, Cam, Hunter and Collins started that game.

Bogi didn't start again until the game he got injured.

Did Bogi look good in preseason? 
35% from the field, 28% from 3.

Had he played then like he is now he would have won the job. He clearly was given more opportunity to do so. This was a conversation we had back then, he was presumed the starter because he was a big signing, but looked bad, or at least worse than Cam at the time. And that is really my point.

If Bogi was balling all year we would have given him the benefit of the doubt coming back from his injury. Dre clearly isn't 100% yet but nobody is criticizing him. Bogi wasn't about rust, it was about the entire body of work pre and post injury.

I didn’t realize you guys were sleeping that little some nights. Sleeping four hours and then doing a strenuous physical activity is hard. 

Sometimes you have these back-to-back games, then you have to get tested early in the morning. You fly and you land at 1. You can get to sleep by 3 hopefully after you take a shower, unpack and your adrenaline goes down after playing a game. Then you have to get tested at 9, which means you have to wake up at 8. That’s the tough part of this.

I wanted to ask you about this: You told my co-worker Sam Amick that you had COVIDbefore the season began. I know some players have had different experiences with it. Jayson Tatum said a month after testing positive, he still had symptoms. What was your experience like and what would you want people to know about the virus? 

It’s tough. It’s not easy. You have to take care of yourself. My family and friends are wearing masks all of the time. They’re moving around a lot. I was trying my best to be careful, too, but I had to work out. I had to do my daily stuff. I was moving around a lot of people. You can catch it anywhere. Whenever you notice something, you should not be going anywhere. Just don’t do anything. That’s what I’ve learned in my experience and from other people. I had all of the symptoms except losing my taste. Other than that, I had everything. I had a fever. I had tiredness, fatigue, back pain, loss of smell. Everyone has different experiences with it.

Did you feel any after effects from it after you started testing negative once again?

I am healthy now. At the beginning of the season — I’m not going to say I was out of shape because I was working a lot during the summer and still working out at home just a little bit when I had COVID. I didn’t do anything for eight to 10 days. I started getting tested every day and I didn’t start testing negative after 15 days of having it. In those final few days of testing positive, I was doing some body exercises like pushups, chin-ups — just light work. After that, I got into the gym for three days and then I had to leave for the United States because free agency was about to start. I didn’t workout hard for around 18 days because of COVID and because I had to go back to the States. I got to Miami and was waiting for Sacramento’s decision if they were matching or not matching. I stayed in Miami for three days and getting workouts in, but all of this travel was getting to me. When you’re traveling from Europe and working out, you can’t feel your legs for two to three days. Those workouts were light too. It was just body workouts and not basketball workouts. I then went to Atlanta after signing and we couldn’t use the gym for the first two days because of COVID protocols. I had to test negative three times and then on that third day, I was able to go into the gym at night. It was tough. I have finally felt over the last month that I have finally recovered and am back to feeling good.

I do remember that first practice I had with the Hawks, I was dead. I was really dead. When I got hurt, all I could think about was how I might not have been ready. I believe that every injury happens for a reason. There’s something that causes an injury, whether it’s mental or body tiredness. It was tough.
