I just wanna say, the Blazers cannot fold on this Dame thing and give in to the Heat or the Sixers. You need assets back for Lillard. This isn’t the same situation as Bradley Beal to the Suns, that was a dump for whatever reason. 
 

If this happens Blazers need to GET PAID. Dame is special.

So what do you see?   Significant player + (3) 1st round picks?

 

If they deal with Miami . . . I want Bam + Robinson + picks

If they dea with Philly . . . I want Tobias + Maxey + picks

If I deal him, I want a young player to build with and picks.  Neither PHI nor MIA has that, so that's not where he's going.  Suck it, Dame.

There will be some who are disappointed with Lillard for asking out. Far more will blame the Blazers for fumbling the most prolific offensive player in franchise history because of inactivity. I don’t know that either is to blame. Lillard has earned the right to ask out if that’s what pleases him, I think the majority of Blazers fans will wish him the best and hope he wins that coveted title. But I don’t get this idea that the Blazers never tried to help build a winner around him. The Blazers have always wanted to do right by Lillard. They gave him input on every decision except the draft. Not a move was made by the Blazers that wasn’t endorsed by Lillard. He was on board with free-agent decisions (Evan Turner, Ben McLemore, Gary Payton II), with trades (Jusuf Nurkić, Rodney Hood, Enes Kanter, Norman Powell, Robert Covington, Jerami Grant) and he agreed the team should welcome Melo. And for two seasons, Portland even went as far as to use a roster spot for his cousin, Keljin Blevins.

I know, teams bend over backwards for these stars. Trading them to their preferred team is where you draw the line. The GM has to do what's in the best interest of the team.

If he's cheap, I'd be open to bringing him on a non guaranteed deal.  I'm a big believer in second chances, if he's truly rehabilitated and the Hawks have done their research and decide to give him a second chance, I'm okay with it.  I can't judge someone by their worst actions and then not be able to forgive them for when they truly repent and make a change. 

It'll be a PR nightmare for the Hawks, but again if they've done their research and made sure he's on the right path, I'm okay with the Hawks giving him a second chance.

It also seems his wife (ex-wife)? Says he's on the right path.

What's crazy to me is the media seems in on setting up the trade.  I watched NBATV and BSPN cover this and only Sam Mitchell was willing to stand up and make the realistic case that Miami had very little to offer. 

Everyone seems like they are doing the bidding of agents, the league, etc.

@marco102 I also agree with you.  It's tough to know when and how to initiate a 2nd chance.  Restoring a person should be the bigger goal than "making them pay."

Unless Portland's GM is a highly naive, impressionable person, media commentary should have impact on the bidding and/or negotiations

It's the raptors guy. I'm starting to think the Hawks are going to use those 2nds from Houston and some filler for some Raptors trade. Doesn't seem like Landry is giving up if there are still reverberations and I'm not sure there is a huge market for Siakam so Raptors might strike before they are stuck with him long-term on a different timeline than their young guys. The sticking point is the rumor he wouldn't sign long term though on other teams.
