Matthews has veto power on any trade since he signed a 1 year deal. He'd have to agree.

I don't think that was ever available, I think the 'west conference deal' vetoed by Tony was for Harrison Barnes.

it was real. Jazz thought like everyone else Lauri wasn't worth his contract and was a negative or neutral value contract. We should have pulled the trigger. The seeds of those discussions led to us trading JC to them for much lower return.

I don't doubt you were told that.  But I am skeptical that it was something we could have actually done.  My guess is there were discussions around JC and Lauri last year but the idea that a little over a year ago Danny Ainge was willing to give up two firsts to swap those two is something I just don't buy.  Ainge values firsts above just about any GM in the league.  To think that he wanted that swap so badly that he would give up 2 firsts is not plausible to me.
