Hawks looking to trade

At this point I’m taking every rumor, including those reported by resident insiders, with a grain of salt. Not to question anyone’s integrity, but anyone who knows anything knows that everything that’s said openly in a negotiation is part of the power play. This thread is nearly 400 pages long of pure speculation and rumors and not one, to date, has come to fruition.

According to the media been sellers at the deadline for the last several seasons with us getting fleeced in nearly every deal and have done nothing. Made zero moves. We’ve had deals agreed to in principle that fell apart at the last moment (allegedly). Only the people in the room know for sure but unless we are pressing a hard reset, there hasn’t been one deal discussed here involving DJ (or Capela for that matter) that makes us better in either the short OR long term. If our plan is to compete, we don’t need more youth and draft picks from playoff caliber teams aren’t going to translate, especially in a market where there are no legitimate game changers available.

In that market, you tinker, not overhaul.

For reals.  I'm a much bigger fan of the way AA does business.  Feels like the Hawks' FO is all bark and no bite.

In their defense tho, I don't think the media culture is as bad for mlb.  They certainly push to be early on news but it doesn't seem as intense as it is for nba news.

@kg01 ask your BIL if one of these are his ideas:

SG/SF Duncan Robinson 18.1
SF Caleb Martin 6'8
PG Dru Smith(Contract dump) 1.8 million
2027 pick swap
2028 1st round pick
2030 1st round pick

to Hawks for

PG Dejounte Murray
PG Patty Mills
Future 2nd round pick

To Heat - Dejounte, Thad Young

To Hawks - Siakam, Otto Porter

To Raptors - Lowry, Caleb, Bogdan, Jalen Johnson, 1 Heat 1st, 1 Heat pick swap

Of course Murray is overall better than Reaves, but he's making 20 million dollars more per year. The logic for Reaves for Murray trade, and assuming the rest of the trade is filler that eventually turns into cap dollars is Reaves + 18-24 million of cap relief for Murray.

You might care about relieving the Ressler's cash flow concerns, but the fans do not rate it too highly.
