Trae was a generation pick for us.  I wouldn't take those picks for him.

Not to beat a dead horse, but trading not one but two unprotected picks really put us in a tough spot. We should have insisted on some modest protections at the very least.

Nope, they can't.  But, that won't stop the media and other teams clamoring for Trae to be in one of there preferred markets.  It's irritating, but the Hawks have failed to do their job in building a good team around Trae.

The reason we are in the tough spot is because we didn't do enough to build the team up after the DJ trade. We didn't ADD pieces to continually improve the team structure. 

The owner self-capped the team and expected a miracle.

Atlanta really don't have any interest in trading Trae Young regardless of what happens in this campaign. Trae and JJ aren't players Atlanta is considering trading regardless of how bad some several teams want for him and that includes everyone, including San Antonio. Tony has absolutely no interest in trading his cash cow and Trae is far more interested in staying than he leaving after his reps reached out around the league on his status.

The media is full of shit. 

The Hawks weren't ever close to a trade with the Lakers for Murray. Not even close. Even further than the Pels. They even offered Austin Reaves and Atlanta declined. Klutch even tried to intervene and it came nowhere close. 

The only deals that appealed to Atlanta aren't on the market on right now, it's for the offseason for Murray. 

I don't believe Atlanta was close on most deals. That said, they made a lot of progress on several players they were targeting and they showed willingness to use the TPE they got for JC. That's was the only real progress. This media nonsense of we were close to trading pennies on a dollar to LAL is bullshit.
