After private workouts this week, the Atlanta Hawks and guard DeAndre Kane have reached a summer league agreement for Las Vegas and plan to discuss further on a possible deal in July, league sources told RealGM.

Kane, a former stand out at Iowa State, spent the past few days working out in Atlanta and settled upon a potential future with the Hawks. Now, Atlanta will integrate the 6-foot-4 product into their summer program and Kane will attempt to increase his stock in dialogue through performances in summer league.

The NBA's free agency period doesn't begin until July 1.

In 40 games with Antwerp in Belgium and Krasny in the Eurocup, Kane averaged 12.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists while shooting 44 percent from the field. Kane, 26, had his strongest stretch during the EuroChallenge with Antwerp, scoring 14.4 points along with 5.7 rebounds and five assists.

As a recruit of Fred Hoiberg at Iowa State, Kane had averages of 17.1 points, 6.8 rebounds and 5.7 assists in his senior year. The Chicago Bulls had a level of interest in Kane, sources said, but his workouts in Atlanta led to a commitment Thursday night.

Kane went to summer league with the Los Angeles Lakers a year ago after going unselected in the 2014 NBA draft. He spent his first three college seasons at Marshall.

Many of you know I'm a Marshall grad, so as you might assume, I've seen plenty of Kane. My opinion is that you should consider  him Summer League fodder, a maybe for a training camp invite, but not a true threat to make our roster.
