So who has the better contract for us if we want to remain flexible? That really depends on who we give up. Currently we have lots of expirings and all of our fixed contracts are for lower amounts. Taking on Adams returns that flexibility after year 2. But Capella locks in a reasonable salary for 2 additional years. Because we are "under" the cap and way under the cap next year which is the year that matters now. You would say Adams. Now going forward, we have to resign Trae, Collins, Heurter, Reddish and Hunter in 2-4 years. Adams salary off the books makes resigning our up and coming players easier. Although Capella's deal is appealing....you have to look at the long term. Adams gives you 2 years to develop your own Capella. 1

kg01
HOU guy claims, per his insider, they're gonna trade Capela to WAS for Bertans/Bryant. Does that trade even work money-wise? Anyway, just posted that so our insiders can lock horns with this guy. @thecampster @NBASupes your move, bros. Actually, dang, I should've just said I had some inside dirt. Can I get a do-over? NBASupes
If Houston could get this deal, I would say it trumps our offer. The issue would still be, Houston has no SF but if you keep using Harden to guard fives, it would be a nightmare to guard Davis Bertrans in that lineup. KB21
It would be just like Travis Schlenk to have an opportunity to significantly upgrade this team by trading a draft pick, and he doesn’t do it because he values those draft picks too much. Salaries need to be between 9.9 and 19.9 million going out from the Hawks. Turner or Teague or Crabbe + picks works. Parker + Len works + picks Hunter + a few others works. Because of Houston's cap situation, those are the only trades that would work salary wise. Crabbe don't work here no mo.

Don't know why they lost it, but don't really know why they had it in the first place.

That being said, there is advantages of Adams contract ending when Trae's money is due. We can do a Brook Lopez cap favorable deal at this point.
