Perma-Nate (Report: Nate/Hawks agree on deal)

Will be interested to read at some point some @thecampster follow-up at that point he has any, and remembering what had been passed along previously concerning Nate's interest to, from my interpretation, protect himself better than he'd been protected in his IND deal... and with that, have some stronger voice in the player acquisition component.

 

With regard to assistants, when you look at Nate's groups in POR and IND, it's not apparent that he has any sacred relationships, and at the same time, it appears he's not one to prefer a staff as large as what he's inherited or to churn his assistants routinely. There is only one assistant in common between the two previous jobs, and that guy, Bill Bayno, just signed-on with Dwayne Casey in DET.

So, on that front, might see someone leave now or later, and McM just wouldn't replace him.

Kobe, Kawhi, LeBron, Kyrie, etc. He's well respected around the league.

Until earlier today, I'd forgotten that McM's boss in IND, Pritchard, had also been his boss in POR.

Makes the way last off-season evolved for McM that much more sobering.

I was very confident this was coming but still great news to see it finalized yesterday.  The fact that we are only on page 2 of this thread I think speaks to how many Squawkers viewed this as a formality.

Congratulations on a well-deserved extension, Coach!  Can't wait to see what you do with these guys after a full offseason.

Nate is one of those coaches like Alderman that never gets the credit he deserves. Nate got blame for overachieving in the regular season only for his team's lack of star power to cost them in the playoffs. Not once, ever, have I thought Nate got outcoached in the playoffs. 

He now has a superstar and the right pieces around him. I can't wait for the next four years. I do think we're going to win at least one ring in that span.
