Plenty of teams can outbid the lakers offer. The question is will anybody do so... to this point nobody has really and thats why they waiting. As of now I'd be surprised if someone does but still plenty of time left before the deadline

We are 18-26 as of right now and never been this bad in the Trae young since 2020. We had a better record without Dejounte before he came here, we had top 5 offenses without Dejounte, we had better defenses without Dejounte. We will be fine. Trade Dejounte, get picks and a player back, make Jalen the true second option, and move on. At least hawks will finally actually choose a direction for once with this trade.

Then hold, it's that simple.  DJ is under contract for THREE more seasons after this one.  If there's not enough of a market right now, hold him until there is, because there will be a team that needs him soon, if not before this deadline.  The Hawks have 100% of the leverage right now -- we aren't playing for shit this year and DJ just re-signed for 3+ years on a nice value contract.  Value players like DJ are going to be coveted moreso than ever once teams start feeling the new CBA next year

Jazz are far enough under to take back Murray without sending out matching salary. I'd prefer a contributing player for the rest of this season and beyond.

Murray is really not on the market anymore. Barely anyone is from Atlanta but Bey. The value back just doesn't match what Atlanta wants which is an equal player on a big contract at a need position or two 1sts and a young player Atlanta really covets like Ivey or Ausar Thompson. As Atlanta gotten more serious, the cost just went out of most teams range. Hunter is on the market for a 1st and a expiring. Capela, same. Atlanta hasn't entertained Bogi offers but I've been told, they aren't what Atlanta looking for. Bey should be moved in February. Atlanta is shopping Mills and Garrison for backup upgrades. They have been in contact with Washington and Charlotte but the cost is very high for their remaining player.

The Lakers have already tried to trade Russell for Murray. The two sides were close on a potential deal about two weeks ago, as I reported last week. Talks stalled, but are expected to resume ahead of the deadline. Murray remains the Lakers’ top priority on the trade market, according to multiple team and league sources not authorized to speak publicly. The Lakers believe Murray would provide similar offensive production to Russell, with obvious downgrades in 3-point shooting volume and playmaking. But Murray is the superior defender, athlete and penetrator, all qualities the Lakers need more of in their rotation.

I think the play is to hold on to DJM until the offseason, and try to shed enough salary so we can make a splash in free agency (Claxton).

Means you'd have to turn Capela and either Dre or Bogi into expiring's now.

Hopefully get lucky-ish in the lotto and take the best wing.

Then you'd have DJM, AJ, Kobe, OO, and whatever we have left in draft assets to try and add that final piece...if it's not DJM.
