I heard there was more but Brodgon, Marcus Smart, and Bruce Brown were targets at a point and time. 

 

As far as picks, I know Dyson Daniels was someone Atlanta had heavy talks with the Pels about.

Doesn’t that mean other teams missed an opportunity?  If others would only lowball us because all the reasons you stated above, they missed getting a legit fringe allstar.

Personally it doesn’t make sense that every team in the NBA held back legit offers.  I don’t buy this idea that NBA GMs would avoid making a play on someone because “Hawks”.

Offering a pick for him makes plenty of sense.  (Offering DJM does not.)

that's not the idea he's selling you. He's selling you that GMs would avoid making a serious offer -- not avoid making a play.

Sounds Iike the same idea.  We don’t get a serious offer because… Either way I don’t buy this.  It sounds like sour grapes.

Other GMs missed a deal if it’s true, but just sounds like whiny fan talk with no substance.  

All the GMs are professionals.  If they want a player they had plenty of time to negotiate.

Atlanta wanted a lot from NO. That said, Atlanta made progress on Dyson Daniels. It depends where they land but don't count him out for the Hawks.

Hawks are trying to build a contender next year. Since they don't have a 1st, they are going all in this year.

Looks like Thaddeus Young is available.  I admittedly have a strong GT bias, but I do think he would be good for the Hawks as PF depth.  Not sure if he'd be willing to come home versus trying to latch onto a contender though...

He’s been mentioned so many times over the years on here, I’m surprised we haven’t spoken him being an Hawk into existence.

Honestly Soth, there's not one legit reason to believe anything these guys are going to do, or should do . . . until they do it.

We appreciate the rumors you and others have presented to the board, but these guys are amateurs.

 

Where the Hawks messed up at, is when the narrative changed from them being buyers, to sellers. 

And the minute they started to dangle DJ in front of everyone, the entire league threw shit deal after shit deal at them.  They wanted t see just how desperate we were to move people, in order to shed salary.  These guys got played like a fiddle, and were left twisting in the wind the entire time.

The rumors weren't a reflection on how much the league did or didn't want DJ.  It was a reflection on just how much they could fleece the Hawks.

 

Now the rumors are all going to be about KAT going into the offseason.  I still say that if Minnesota makes that run to the NBA Finals, they're not breaking up that core.  They will pay the tax for 1 year, then make a decision going forward with that roster.

And once again, the Hawks will be played like a fiddle.

So there's no reason to believe that they're going to do anything, until they actually do it.
