Hilarious stat (to me): Joe Johnson has 70 transition opportunities this season, and he's scored or been fouled on 33 percent of them

Does someone have access to the stat source or otherwise understands what Prada is talking about? 33 percent scored-or-fouled sounds bad either way. And if those are "opportunities" where Joe has the ball in transition and has the chance to take the shot, then okay. If those are "transition opportunities" where any of the Hawks have the ball while he is on the floor...

Agree on the incomplete statistics.

Another 33% of JJ's transition oppurtunities could result in an assist..........so that would mean a 67% conversion rate.

JJ's is not the best finisher in the world.........he looks to dish alot on the break.

The author should define their definition for "transition oppurtunity." ? Does that mean shot attempt or ball possesion ?

I'm pretty sure most of those "opportunities" are chances where he'd be expected to score i.e. if he's leading the break and usually matched on a smaller player. No surprise if his percentage is much lower than other 2s or 230+ pounders, as his quickness, speed, and hops are all well below average. He shies away from isolated open court play like the plague, especially if Josh isn't on the floor to follow him. He much rather slow down and get a leverage floater or back a small guard down and push a short jumper, all lower percentage shots than just driving hard and dunking like most people of his size and basketball acumen would. Then again, slowing the pace of the break until everyone recovers renders the situation half-court so...yeah, he's an awful finisher. What's new. Out of his entire career here, I've seen him dunk in one persons mug: Delonte West, and it actually was in the half-court. Can anyone else vouch that Joe dunked, completed fast breaks, caught alley oops, and finished in traffic waaaay more in Phoenix than he does here? That eye injury shook him to his core and still haunts him today.

It would be nice to see and understand the data since the average conversion rate might be 25% for all we know. Tough to say much about a vague number like this.
