For better or worse, I don't think tanking is in the plans. In addition, the interview Devin Harris gave on 680 yesterday suggested the same.

If you're tanking why even sign Lou Williams? Lou, Devin, Morrow, Jenkins are the replacements for Joe and Hinrich. Jettison the old and underperforming, keep the guys who are approaching their prime, sign guys who are younger and hungry, keep your payroll flexible for trades and free agency. This is a recipe for winning, not tanking. Lou was great to listen to. He seems like a level headed guy.

Danny Ferry is too smart to tank, because tanking doesn't work. Danny is not going to tank and then miss out on the playoffs for the next 4 years, because that is what happens to teams that tank. They tend to continue to suck for a long time. It is a lot easier to go from good to great than it is to go from very bad to great.

Great audio clip. He sounds like he has his head screwed on right and is excited to be here. That's right! A player that isn't signing for the vet min is excited to be here. A sign we are moving in the right direction! Oh, and one more guy that can reach out to Dwight next summer.

Thanks for posting. I love the call Dwight stuff! Interesting that Josh was a big part of getting Lou here as well. Very excited about this as I've wanted Lou on the team for a while now.

Lou is from Snellville. Dwight is from Atlanta. Josh is from Powder Springs. It's almost like the Braves being lead by the local Brian McCann and Jason Heyward.

Tell that to the Cavs

They didn't tank intentionally, their star walked out on them... Plus, they were only terrible for one season and the league took care of them as they ended up with 2 top five picks. Now they are looking to pick up Bynum. Tanking is like bankrupcy, you only do it if its the only option left or you're forced into it...

Yes, if only history has shown teams that get superstars early in the draft go on to win titles....oh wait, it does.

The last team to draft a player in the lottery and win a title was the Heat in 2006 with Wade and they wouldn't won that championship w/o trading for Shaq. The 2003 Draft gave us LBJ, Bosh, Wade, Carmelo, Kaman, and David West and Wade is the only player that is still on the team that drafted him... Dwight came out in 2004, he wants out in Orlando. Paul and Deron came out in 2005, they have both moved on. If this was the 80's or 90's when players were actually "loyal" to the team that drafted them, then yeah, tanking and going for a top five would work, but in today's game, players don't stick around long enough to build a championship teams that way. Sure, LBJ took the Cavs and Dwight took the Magic to the finals, but once there, they got beat by better, older teams... Teams are built through FAncy and trades nowadays. Also, drafts have not been that strong in the past few years... Spurs are really the only team that has built a team through the draft and that fanbase is blessed with the best coach in the game.

You would think that any one who even has a casual interest in the NBA would know this already!
