I know a lot of what we are running. It's extremely similar to last year. Just a lot less trust, teams know are schemes more and we lack the personnel to do it which we didn't last year. With Trae, our OffRtg is 107 is it clearly works with Trae.

But it only works with Trae IF Trae is scoring the basketball.

When Trae is getting into the paint and scoring the basketball, the offense looks great.  When the bigs set non-contact screens, and the defender is all over Trae, that's when you see the long jumpers and the jumping into defenders to draw fouls from him.

Once again though, we don't have a "Plan B" offense that we can go to.  Hopefully last night's game showed that we should at least try to just get Collins the ball outside of pick and roll action, and just let him work.  He looked absolutely fantastic being the go-to scorer.

There is nothing we can do to improve the team this year.

The veterans that can provide some help this year are Len, Crabbe, Parker and Bembry.  Rest should not be playing at all. These four should be playing around 20-25 to get some weight out of rookies shoulders.

We desperately need to add a Center and a backup PG, Center is going to be tough but backup PG are a dozen out there. Look at Gary Payton at Washington, there are other players worth adding out there.

Rookies and Huerter are not working out there, they need to step back a little and learn to play behind Young, Collins, Len, Crabbe and Bembry even though Crabbe and Bembry might not be NBA starters but they will be more solid.

If by any chance a trade for a serviceable player becomes available for the expiring deals of Turner, Parsons, Crabbe or Parker just do it. People are talking about Adams but Dieng would be a much better fit and as the perception of the contract is really bad we might even get a young player in return as Keita Bates Diop or Napier

This was not an anti-CLP thread so I resent those of you that have turned it that direction.  Really.  I'm giving you all some major side-eye RN.

You could dig up Naismith and cross his DNA with freaking Phil Jackson and that love child wouldn't be able to do anything with this roster.

For those that think there's nothing doable in-season to help, I introduce the concept of addition-by-subtraction.  Schlank needs to get the following dudes gone:

Parker, Jones, Crabbe, Turner, Carter

Bye

Rookies have not been able to carry the load they were given. We have to give them the load they can handle. Collins and Trae can play 35 mins, Hunter, Huerter, Cam and Bruno cannot handle the load now, 15-20 is more suitable to the game they provide now, bring them slowly and put in the field some veterans that can share the load. Time to give more minutes to Crabbe, Bembry, Parker and Len and find some help to replace Parsons, Damian Jones and Turner. Is good to give minutes to young players while you are losing but looking so awful is not making them any good for their development. Crabbe and Bembry can play 25-30 mpg, Len as well. they need to take the responsibility and make things easier for the young fellas.

Expect to see all these players gone next season.  Part of our rebuild here.  Sadly, they are very little \ no help this season.  They do represent a lot of $$$$ payroll that will be available in the summer of 2020!

Yes a lot of $$$$ available but who to spend it on? I hope that factors in to Schlenk's thinking maybe on a Dedmon trade, yeah he is older player but a good fit a shorter term deal not taking too much that is available in 2020 and we wouldn't have to give up as much to make.  Keep in mind we will have to save some for John too.

Can John and Trae really play 35 mpg? Their defense isn't worth a shit. Hunter literally looked like the only player who could handle the minutes till recently.

The problem is, not only are they not helping, they're working to hurt our young guys' development.

Dedmon is about to get fined for publicly requesting a trade:

Quote
Publicly requesting a trade, whether by a player or his representatives, is a violation under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement. The league frowns upon such requests, with commissioner Adam Silver saying in the past, “From the league’s standpoint, we disfavor trade demands.” Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis was fined $50,000 last season when he was a member of the New Orleans Pelicans after his agent, Rich Paul, publicly acknowledged that they requested a trade.

Hunter is an abomination on BOTH ends. Not sure why his defense has been so respected so far this season, guess it's just based off of his reputation because he has been hot garbage on that end most of the year. Cam has been a much, much better defender than Hunter.

Hunter has been the most disappointing player imo. He was suppose to be NBA ready like Al Horford was his rookie year.

As he is completely worn out of late. Previously, he handle big minutes better than anyone on both end.

I hope we trade and get dedmon back. Then Schlenk can make a decision on Len in the off-season but I’d be ok with a combination of dedmon and Len for 2-3 more seasons.

that will give our guy Bruno enough time to really develop.

i really believe that that is the best fix if we can’t land a star center.

its a solid big man rotation as well! Collins/Parker....Dedmon/Len/Bruno....very solid rotation. Get us some better wing vets and a backup pg and we ain’t lookin too bad

I agree with their defense, however Collins defense is much much better. Anyway they have demonstrated they can play 35 mpg. We should pair them with Crabbe, Bembry and Len on the floor. Give Hunter minutes with 4 of these players, same for Cam, same for Huerter. Give the young felllas something they can handle. What is not really working is to have Huerter, Reddish, Hunter and Bruno at the same time on the floor. Protect the young guys.
