Its the end of May already.  Time to do the draft, have free agency and start again in October imo.

They have to get the 70 regular season games for TV Revenue and then have the playoffs. As much as I agree with you, barring an internal NBA virus out break once practice and play starts again, they will try and finish some semblance of a season.

The issue from my guy is some teams like Golden State don't want to play anymore while some teams like Atlanta don't mine that RSN money which they are close to.

He said GS isn't close to their RSN reqs and don't want to play anymore. Teams like Atlanta who are only three games out of their reqs do want to play it out.

Atlanta is one of the teams that want to play out the next 3 games for them. They are close to making their RSN reqs and want it. Not every bad team is close due to national TV reqs.

The NBA should just play out the next 3 games for those teams who want to meet their reqs and end the season for all.

BREAKING!!!!......Latest from Schlenk on Hawks playing if/when seadon resumes:

Quote

...the Hawks are making it known that they want the regular season to resume. On Monday, the Hawks had 10 players in for voluntary workouts at different times throughout the day, and they reopened their weight room .....the Hawks are telling their players that if the regular season will resume they should start ramping up their workloads now to mitigate the risk of those pulled hamstrings and groins that are occurring overseas.

.........in Schlenk’s opinion, the more games his team plays, the better it is for the long term.

“You have to remember, we have a young team,” Schlenk said. “Any opportunity we have to practice is a positive for us. We view that as a positive. You also have to think about that we made a couple of trades at the deadline for guys who weren’t able to play. Skal (Labissiere) is in town, and he was on the court (Monday) doing his workout. He’s doing more than he was (when the season paused). There’s a possibility he’ll be able to get some minutes, which is a positive for us as he goes into restricted free agency. We also have Clint (Capela), who I talked to last week. He says he feels good, and he’s optimistic. We haven’t seen him, so we don’t know, but even if he can play just a few minutes in some games, that would be a positive to see him with our guys.”

That doesn’t mean the Hawks would do their damnedest to tank if the regular season resumed so their lottery odds could improve......“The Core Five,” otherwise known as the Hawks’ five first-round draft picks in the past three seasons, played 442 possessions on the court together this season. That’s only 6 percent of the total possessions the Hawks had,  But the more minutes the team’s young players get, the better it is for Schlenk to make long-term roster decisions on who fits, who doesn’t and what else is needed.

“We would play our guys,” Schlenk said when asked how he would treat a possible return to play. “The more time we can play our guys together, the better it is for us. To be able to see guys we made trades for play with our guys — those would be valuable minutes for us.”

I would be very disappointed if the Hawks dont play again this season

They been pushing. They want that RSN and the loudest among the teams. They are pushing for some teams like them to play a revised schedule so they can get that RSN money.

Are they talking about the bare minimum number of games needed to hit that 70 game threshold or something larger?

Hawks just want three games, meet their limit and play it like a SL style games. Most limit is 70 games but some like GS has so many games. The issue is, a lot of these teams don't want to return and fine where they are at. Teams like Atlanta want the reps.

If youre going to trouble why not play more than 3 game? Try to be fan friendly, use a little imagination.

I like the idea of a play in for all 30 teams but that would not qualify as meeting the 70 regular season games. Right now that puts us playing at Toronto for a one game winner take all to get into the playoffs.
