Premium Member Popular Post JayBirdHawk Posted September 24, 2022 Premium Member Popular Post Report Share Posted September 24, 2022 Quote ATLANTA — Nate McMillan knew something had to change. It became clear the Hawks floated into last season still a little hungover from their success from the season before. They sputtered for too long. They never really found a groove. They never really posed a threat to contenders in the Eastern Conference, never remotely approached the expectations they had set for themselves and ultimately looked like a meek and overmatched mess, ultimately drop-kicked out of the playoffs early by the Heat. Maybe worst of all, the two most important members of the team — the head coach and the star point guard, Trae Young — didn’t talk nearly enough about what was going wrong. They didn’t necessarily agree or disagree because they didn’t communicate, at least not nearly enough. Bumping heads actually would’ve been progress. “We didn’t argue — but if we do that, that would be OK,” McMillan said Friday. “Because the bottom line is we have to talk about things. We have to get a feel for what each other is thinking and what’s best for this team. I told Trae, ‘I need you to be more vocal. I need your voice. I need to know what you’re thinking how you feel about things.’ We both agreed we need to improve. We need to improve the connection between us.” Something had to change. So in early June, even before the Hawks made their big offseason trade for All-Star guard Dejounte Murray, McMillan picked up his telephone and called Young. “We need to have a conversation. Where are you?” McMillan said. Quote They spent two days together at Young’s home. McMillan, the old point guard, the one who earned the nickname, “Sarge,” brought his shorts and sneakers. They spent hours on the court in Young’s home basketball gym, McMillan handling the ball and showing Young what he envisioned for him during the 2022-23 season. McMillan tried to show Young the benefit of playing without the ball, running off different sets, running off screens, playing catch-and-shoot, doing things to confuse and aggravate opposing defenses. They talked about what went wrong last season and in the playoffs and how they could change that, together. Equally important, they talked about leadership and the need for both of them to be better. “I got a lot out of it,” Young said. “We had a chance to spend some time with each other, learn more about each other. We talked about what we can get better at and playing without the ball. We got to learn a lot about each other.”

Spud2nique
They got Trae at #14 but there was a debate between who should go there (Trae Ja or Dame) 2/4 guys immediately said Trae, the 2nd dude with a cap on and the furthest right. Its live on BR but I don’t know what the heck it is
Premium Member JayBirdHawk Posted October 4, 2022 Premium Member Report Share Posted October 4, 2022 But like H20, Young can change states and remain the same player. Whether he takes the form of ice, water, or steam, Young is equally impactful without changing his core elements.
