I don’t follow the KAT angle. Supposing he becomes available, I find it hard to believe we will field the most competitive offer for him. He’ll be expensive — got to think we’d have to include JJ and whatever firsts we can send. And supposing we land him, can we fill out the roster with talent/depth while paying KAT/Trae a combined $92M? I’m no capologist but it seems unlikely. And KAT/Trae/pieces may not even crack the third seed in the East. 
 

Winning is hard. Our current trajectory is perennial play-in team. I know many of you think it is foolish, but I think trading Trae absolutely should be on the table.

Couple quick thoughts:

1 - It is not easy to get back in the playoffs after bottoming out.  It is not guaranteed.  It can be many years.  Don’t treat that as a given.

2 - I agree with the idea of keeping Murray unless and until you can get real value for him.  We’ve seen it with Siakam, Harden and others.  Wait until the right time to sell when someone wants him and is willing to pay.

3 - I don’t like the idea of building around Murray.  The team consistently struggles when he is running the show.  He needs to be a complimentary piece not the best player on a team.  
 

4 - We need to take our shot at building around Trae.  If we suck in a few years and he leaves then we rebuild then when we have our picks again.  Right now it is a shorter path to retooling this team than it is to tanking without our picks or throwing away the most significant player we’ve had since Nique.

From the start, the idea of trading Murray has been Stupid. 

• He came here to play with Trae. 
• He put up 20/5/5 last year. 
• He's much better this year with an improved 3 pt shot.
• He took a hometown discount to stay with Atlanta ....i.e. Loyalty. 
• He has even said that he hasn't requested a move.

Why do people want to trade him???

Make Quin earn his MFing Money and figure this shit out!!  That's why we brought him here.  We didn't bring him here to break up the team and try to build something he likes.

I'm not trading DJM for any other situation than one that brings in another star that pairs better with Trae and JJ. If that situation does not exist right now, it is on Quinn as the coach to get our team figured out and produce better rotations. We should not give Murray away just to get rid of him. That's stupid.
