Premium Member Popular Post sturt Posted February 6, 2020 Author Premium Member Popular Post Report Share Posted February 6, 2020 Virtually all of his SAC numbers scream anomaly when you compare all of his other seasons. He's not experienced anything like this since his rookie season. I feel there's ample reason to believe the Dedmon we'll see will be more like the Dedmon we're used to seeing. 7

Overpaid for that but we have the cash so not a huge deal as long as he returns to form.
Premium Member Popular Post JayBirdHawk Posted February 6, 2020 Premium Member Popular Post Report Share Posted February 6, 2020 I get the concern regarding Dedmon's Sac numbers vs his salary but I'm viewing this as 1 year deal for next season until Bruno is ready. Schlenk admitted he underestimated the importance of good locker rooms vets. Dedmon had a big voice in the locker room, will be important with Vince gone next season.

Will Vince be gone gone, or could he be coming back as a coach? And speaking of senior voices, I'm on that Sap bandwagon. Get him back here.

Get his tail on the first thing smoking out of Atlanta I didn't think Dedmon was that much better than Len last season, now he makes over 3 times as much and is in the midst of an abysmal year. Plus Len is happy to come off of the bench (almost too happy) while Dedmon played his way out of the lineup and then complained to the media about his role on the Kings. Like I said, if he bounces back to his 2018-19 form and is cool playing behind Capela then I won't have any complaints.

Dedmon is fine but he has been terrible this year. We are definitely betting on a full bounce back but he has been so bad I view risk in that. Sacramento had no real leverage and wanted to shed his salary. Dump trade for them. Parker and Len for two 2nd round picks isn’t great shakes. I view Ded as an upgrade on Len at double the cost which says TS really didn’t want Parker back. On the plus side, Dedmon was a near model of professionalism here so don’t have big worries about him being upset at coming off the bench. He also compliments Cap quite nicely as a big with a jumper and a FT stroke who can defend. The screens our centers set and the boards they grab just upgraded big time between these moves. He couldn't buy a three this year. I think it might be overly optimistic to expect his shots are suddenly going to fall. I completely understand why Sac benched him. You can't have your veteran stretch big shooting 20% from three. Word was getting around, and teams weren't even guarding him on the perimeter. Buzzard
I may not win anything this season but I just added Dedmon to my fantasy team. I think that makes me King Fan of the Hawksquawk XVII Fantasy League with Trae, Huerter, and Dedmon. @Spud2nique just needs to send me Collins so I will be even happier! Popular Post NBASupes
I didn't really get a chance to post how I feel about Dedmon's return. But I will now. I don't really give a shit about his shooting, it was always streaky, just less streaky than Bazemore especially if it was an open shot in rhythm. He also couldn't create offensively to save his life, he lived at the 3 pt line and he really didn't have the talent level of say Alex Len. What I loved about Dedmon was: High BBIQ - On both ends, he just knew where he needed to be. He wasn't Horford where he was a genius but he was dependable and reliable to say the least. Communication skills- He was the real MVP for Kevin last year. Kevin has good defensive BBIQ but his talent and ability is lacking badly on that end. With Dedmon, his defense looked better than Collins last year and Trae's. This year, he might as well be just as bad as Trae. He's constantly in bad positions and he's having to defend in space too much with no help. Dedmon was tremendous at making sure the kids were in the right area and actually being help. I was watching the Kings/Wolves game and Dedmon was doing this for the Kings as well. So I know this is something that will translate ASAP. This will help all of our players, but especially the kids. Having to deal with Bruno/Jones/Len was brutal. They were put in a lot of tough spots. I know Cam and De'Andre think the NBA is hard as shit right now. They will realize how much easier it is with Dedmon on the court. Execution - Dedmon was so polished at making the right decisions on the ball at the top of the perimeter and made all of those exotic LP plays look good. This year we run those plays and they look straight garbage. Half the time Trae just dribbles in a circle dying to find something so he can create or score on. With Dedmon, shit just worked. He also knew how to pass and make decisions. His screens are very good and while he wasn't much of a roll man, he knew when and when not to roll to keep the defense honest. For a player who generates as much attention as Trae, he was like training wheels to Trae and the others. Leadership - While it's good to have VC in the locker room. We need someone who you know, actually impacts the game to be a leader too. Dedmon was that for us. Man, I honestly feel just for us, Dedmon was worth about 10 wins. I think we would be 24 wins right now with Dedmon regardless of John's suspension. Dedmon was every bit as critical for us as DMC was for those Coach Bud Hawks. So for me getting Dedmon back is bigger than just a backup center. It's getting our teacher back. While LP is the principal and TS is the superintendent. You need that great teacher. VC is basically about to retire and was an elite teacher but just don't got it no more. Dedmon is like a teacher of the year that didn't go to the best school but he just does his job harder, better, and more caring about your success than others. Welcome back, Dewayne Dedmon!

Plainview1981
His away numbers were better than his home numbers. I think he only signed with the Kings for the money.
gurpilo
I don't like the trade, I think we should have got something else in return. Dedmon is not much better than Len, add Parker and probably both have more value than Dedmon. Having said that he has been a good fit here and is a good fit to Capela, we needed s stretch big. Additionally he is not risking our position for 2021 free agency. I understand the reasons why we made this but do not like what we got in return for Len and Parker

Premium Member Popular Post sturt Posted February 6, 2020 Author Premium Member Popular Post Report Share Posted February 6, 2020 Key to this deal is that Dedmon's contract isn't guaranteed after next season, meaning it does no damage to our FA 2021 pursuits (ie, unless of course he outplays his contract and it makes more sense to keep him).
Moderators Popular Post PSSSHHHRRR87 Posted February 6, 2020 Moderators Popular Post Report Share Posted February 6, 2020 Indifferent on this trade. I liked Len, but Dedmon is about the same player. The locker room presence will be the biggest factor.

And, when we read @NBASupes comments above, he will be a great asset on team defense when he's on the floor. Our rookies need guidance in their defensive efforts. Our GM realized this AFTER he had let him go after the last two seasons here. Hawks have gone from having their worst weakness being at center to much, much better.
