Why is Trae Young hated so much??

And this too from ESPN. It’s like Zach Lowe disses Trae then praises then back to dissing. The basketball gods will look down kindly on Klay Thompson cuz he’s a wuss and doesn’t invite contact on three point attempts. COMON ZACH HET IT TOGETHER!!!!

6. Trae Young, begging for fouls

I like Trae Young fine. I put him on my All-Star roster even though he plays zero defense and his team is terrible. The idea that Young passes only to record assists -- not totally off-base, but a bit overblown -- has seeped into NBA discourse to the point that he is on the verge of being criminally underrated as a passer. His shooting bends defenses; the Hawks have been a legitimately good offensive team with Young on the floor -- no easy feat given injuries, inexperience, and John Collins' suspension. Young eviscerated Miami Thursday with a 50-spot.

Just stop dry-heaving in search of 3-shot fouls, please.

You know whom I miss even more in the face of such blasphemy? Klay Thompson. One of the half-dozen greatest shooters ever flat refuses to chase fouls, even when he pump-fakes defenders out of their shoes and his coaches beg him to lean into contact. Thompson is a man of honor. The basketball gods shall reward him upon his return.

Sorry Zach is right. Love Trae, but he goes begging for fouls. You're calling Klay a wuss?? Klay is 1000x the defender Trae is. Come on, stop with the homerism. Some things are just objectively true, you don't have to deny them.

Heard an ESPN guy the other morning admit that “context is the enemy of content.” The brazenness of saying it out loud was amusing.

Just stop watching these national shows. Problem solved.

Everyone wants their favorite player or team to get preferential treatment, which is impossible. My beef with the national shows is a focus on faux controversies and their social/political biases in how stories are reported or interpreted. That being said, low brow shock jock local crap is absolutely unlistenable. With the notable exception of Mike Bell who is actually smart, funny and witty.

Skip is basically one of those guys who will just try to change the narrative instead of just admitting he was wrong.

Sounds like he would do pretty well on this site.

It's true he goes begging for fouls but I guess I don't see the problem with it. It's the same thing we've seen CP3, Harden, Curry, KD, LBC, etc... do their whole careers. IF the refs are going to call it and give him FTs, then I'm all for it. Bout damn time something went in the Hawks favor anyway. I railed on LBJ for years about whining about calls every time down the floor. I know I'm being a hypocrite on this but I don't care cuz now we got an elite on our squad. Time for him to get the superstar treatment.

Don't think anyone will ever match the method acting facial expressions of a 250+ pound LeBron crying about a scrawny wing fouling him on a drive to the rim. So glad he is out West these days.

Yes if they give you the calls and it's within the rules, then why not. A couple times though Trae has actually turned over the ball jumping into a defender trying to get a call.

You just have to take the good with the bad. I haven't seen any data on it but I'd guess they call a foul far more often than they don't. As long as it stays a net positive, I'm fine with it and will live with the occasional turnover when the ref doesn't oblige.

30 / 9  shooting 37% from 3, 10 free throws a game at 85%,  4.5 rebounds, 1.2 steals.

They want to say this guy isn't elite and isn't a star.   Find me another player with these numbers who isn't a star.  jiminy christmas, it's just absurd.

According to BBReference, Westbrook is the only other player in the 3PT era to put up 30/9 in a single season and he shot 34% from 3PT. So the list to put up Trae's stats this year is.......TRAE. That's it.

Here is a nice take on many players we considered floppers...https://bleacherreport.com/articles/869637-15-worst-floppers-in-nba-history#slide15
