Yeah, it feels like he did not want to coach this team but now we can see if they can savage the season (it is not going to be easy).  They should look at Hammon anyway

Sad to see Nate go but watching this team on offense was like watching wet paint dry. My top 3 candidates are:

1.) Ime Udoka

2.) Jeff Van Gundy

3.) Mark D'Antonio

This is the perfect excuse for Trae to want out. I hope I'm wrong.

It is sad, but that really is the best case scenario. Just make the Play-in/Playoffs, don't go out with a whimper like they did against Miami, and start with a fresh coaching staff next season.

@TRW,

There is no team would give up any assets for Trae, even if he wanted a trade.  He has the Rookie Max contact and there is not too teams that have anybody with that.  Trae is not going anywhere but its NBA, anything can happen!

I think Charles Lee is the guy for some reason.. I hope he can lead AND Coach.. Just my opinion of course..

My question is why did we wait? Our last game was 6 days ago, we could have interviewed and hired our new coach by now if they are trying to hire one to save the season.

We won't hire a permanent coach mid season for several reasons .1. If they are interested in a person on a another team,  and 2. they need to not rush it. 3. A new coach would want to start mid season.

Nate should have quit back when Trae went home before that game.  He waited till Trae had a week to figure out if he wanted to keep him.

I don't think they actually make the move to hire someone until their season is officially over.  The interview process, with the season still going on, should be interesting.

I agree it doesn't seem likely to hire a coach midseason. I'm just confused about announcing a list of possible coaches already. Woj is saying they are starting the search immediately. So why wait almost a full week before going through with the firing?

I said previously,  if they were to let him go it would happen after the Allstar weekend to not giving a talking point during the festivities.
