Spud2nique
Had the privilege of watching this kid play in some games at Cal a few years back and boy was he the real deal. A man amongst boys. At only 21 years of age entering his 3rd season in the NBA from Marietta GA, this SG/SF/PF possesses the ability to put the ball in the hole from inside and out. The knock on him was his outside shot, so he decided to shoot nearly 40% (39.5) to quiet them down. He shot over 50% from the floor. He’s always at the top in defensive win shares while guarding 1-4’s on the floor, including stars like Lebron, Westbrook and Kawhi. The reason for selecting him didn’t really have anything to do with his stats but rather the eye test. He has supreme confidence in himself and it shows on the floor. He is a fearless defender that will guard you 94 feet in a full court set and straight hound his opponent. The pound for pound strength, not to mention the core strength and balance is unbelievable. Without further adieu.. With the 32nd pick in the 2018 Squawk Dynasty Draft, the Spudiculous Spudsters select: JAYLEN BROWN Up next is my main man and your wordsmith, @lethalweapon3 Aka the Philly funster! Have at it hoss!

Moderators AHF Posted July 27, 2018 Author Moderators Report Share Posted July 27, 2018 With the third pick for the U-Niques, we were in a good position. We had the reigning MVP as the cornerstone of our offense and with him the ability to let him run point or bring in buckets of points with great efficiency (or both). We had the reigning DPOY as the cornerstone of our defense with his dominant ability to force opponents away from that efficient interior scoring that is so important, especially in the playoffs. With those two needs met, we had a pretty free hand to just pick for value with our third selection. I threw out a few names of some younger players with high potential and some older players with key production. Ashley's response? "You've got the 2016-17 DPOY and king of versatility on the board. Just make the damn pick." Fair enough. Draymond Green it is. Green just finished his age 27 season after being drafted in the second round and kicking off his rookie year in 2012-13. He has made 3 consecutive All-Star teams, 4 consecutive All-NBA defensive squads and 2 All-NBA teams over the past 3 years. Green finished top 5 in box score +/- for 4 consecutive years based on his dominant defensive presence, his plus passing ability and improved scoring. His ability to play forward or center and to guard almost anyone on the floor gives us a real weapon to make opponent's life difficult on the floor. Despite bodying up some of the biggest men in the game, his quick hands have led him to actually lead the league in steals and he has been near the top a couple times in steal %. On offense you might be forgiven for thinking he is a point guard with him finishing in the top 10 in assists per game each of the last 3 seasons. He fits our desire for guys who can move the ball as he has been an essential play maker and passer in Golden State's attack. He has taken a nice 40% of his shots from 3pt range less for his deadly accuracy (which has ranged from subpar at 31% the last two years to a healthy 34% and 39% the prior two seasons) and more for the key spacing it provides for his teammates. While we wanted two guys who could dominate defensively in our frontcourt, we didn't want them taking away from eachother offense. With Green's versatility and elite passing, we are sure that won't be the case. The one thing you can't fix in a player is whether his motor runs hot and that is no worry with Draymond. While he can boil over a bit at times, he is always fighting and always has his teammates' back. Welcome to the U-Niques, Mr. Green! G: James Harden PF: Draymond Green C: Rudy Gobert

Moderators lethalweapon3 Posted July 27, 2018 Moderators Report Share Posted July 27, 2018 In the 3rd Round, with the 33rd Pick in the 2018 Hawksquawk Summer Dynasty Draft, the Lethal Tender selects: Are you being served? Ordering Rihanna’s phone number is probably out of the question, but Christopher Emmanuel Paul (Point Guard, 6'0", 175 lbs., Age 33) can fetch you basketballs on platters for days. Bon Appetit! Aside from the well-documented playoff-career shortcomings, among the things that give future Hall of Famer Chris Paul notoriety is the fact that in every NBA stop he has been in, he has never been the highest-paid player on his team. That changes in Lethalopolis with CP3 joining the Tender. By most observations, Paul has still got it defensively. He received the highest vote tally of any player not making an All-Defensive 1st or 2nd Team, barely missing out on joining fellow Tenders Victor Oladipo and Joel Embiid for that honor in 2017-18. Not that he needs such hardware. Paul has been named to that team nine times in the prior ten seasons, including each of the previous seven. Paul will serve as a second coach on this roster, quarterbacking the team’s defensive strategies while raising up its young stars the right way. Even while playing alongside a high-usage player who led the league in assists in 2016-17, Paul still managed to finish 6th in per-game assists. Playing more off-ball alongside a backcourt scorer, much like the newly-established scorer Oladipo, Chris continued to shoot the rock well from deep (38.0 3FG%) last season. Meanwhile, he improved his offensive efficiency, nearly eliminating the long two-pointer shots he has long been accustomed to shooting (11.0 percent of his FGAs, down from 26 and 28 percents the seasons prior). This paid dividends at playoff time, when he nearly carried his team to a Conference Championship upset and a trip to the 2018 Finals. Paul remains as sure a shot as the charity stripe as you’ll find, his 91.9 FT% finishing 2nd in the league. A torn hamstring in the playoffs showed up at a most inopportune time for Paul, and it remains to be seen how much his lateral movement and vertical will be further hampered at his advancing age. While he has a shiny new contract extension to live up to, over the next four seasons, Paul will need an understudy to pass the baton toward for the Tender to sustain its championship-quality pedigree. For now, with Paul, Oladipo, and Embiid among the league’s Top 20 in Player Efficiency Rating, this is a solid and balanced Big 3. If CP3’s physical core holds up long-term, the title-contending core in the near-term will, too. A fella who has always been a wiser selection than CP3 is up next... @Marvin24Williams has been P to the M'd! ~lw3

I actually hope the C’a trade him just because I think he’s a big piece to their identity...and I hate the C’s... ? Wait, oh Lucas took Tatum nevermind. Getting CP3 this late could automatically give you the 1st year championship. It definitely puts you in the conversation. In my opinion Paul is still top 15 to 20 value.
