There is no legitimate reason to hate on Trae for this game.  He looked comfortable out there and his shot selection was good.  I'm as big a critic of his shot selection as anyone and the only bad shot he took was that falling away 20 foot rainbow long two -- and it dropped anyways.  There have been plenty of games where he forces shots in the 4th quarter but this wasn't one of them.  No one else was on the floor to create and the Celtics were going under screens at times and giving him looks.  He has to take those shots.  And with 7 seconds left in the 4th, what else are you realistically going to do than a Trae iso?  Brown was clearly coached to give him space and take away the floater so trae dropped a triple on his head.  He played smart and under control all game while being aggressive.

One thing that nobody mentioned was....

The wedgie...  The Celtics deflated the ball.   DeflateGate II... back in Boston.

 

Seriously though... if that ball didn't get wedged up there, we go up by 3... game pretty much over.  Trae had already Kicked their arses.   Boston just had a little Luck and made Trae work a little harder for the win.

I do have to say that I am shocked that Smart got called for the illegal screen down the stretch.  Granted it was illegal but it was not nearly as egregious as many of the other illegal screens used by the Celtics.  I am pretty shocked the whistle wasn't swallowed on that one and they actually called it straight.  Wish they would do that with all the other illegal screens.

Well, after that... they totally ignored Smart on the pull down of Hunter.  There was no call made and they were side out.

That didn't shock me at all.  I kind of expect guys like Smart and Butler to be able to get away with just about anything down the stretch, especially when it doesn't involve the guy with the ball in his hand.

Just saying I appreciated the moment of actual even-handed rule enforcement.

I'm not a coach.. but I have some questions...

Why leave Trae in on a defensive possession?

It may be relationship building.  It may be confidence building.   It may be that you looked on the bench and said, tomato tomatoe. 

We had JC, OO, Hunter, Bogi, and Trae on the court.

If we sub Trae for CC.   We get a rim protector in there but he's been getting beat when teams come downhill. 

IF we sub Trae/Bogi for Bey and Holiday...  I feel better based on the season but not based on this game.   I still think Holiday is a pitbull who could have stayed with White.. but IDK.

I was shocked as well.  Actually, they called a few of them.  The tide may be a turnin' on those.

Folks keep wondering why BOS has struggled.  Well, being unable to have moving screens hinders them.

That makes a big difference for their offense.  So many plays where Horford and others are just escorting the defender away from the ball to open up a clean shot.  That **** is illegal.  Shut it down refs.

The elbows up of Al Horford should be penalized.   He caught Trae in the mouth with the elbows up moving screen. This is not football.  You don't set pick with your elbows up.

I assume since his last "Trade Trae" rant had us including a first round pick to move Trae for someone like Ben Simmons that now he'll say we need to give up two firsts.  Anyone who busts the Celtics is going to be less desirable to other teams.
