Brooklyn just added a better talent than anyone in our system with Russell. Let's be real, we got the least amount of talent in the NBA by a country mile. We lost almost every game last year without Sap outside of the Cleveland stunner

We definitely do now after losing Millsap for nothing and trading Howard for less than nothing.

So Bud/Cox should get fired, but Slinky, who did no better (worse if you consider Plumlee) gets a pass?  Hmm.

Can't blame him for what happened to Horford or for not trading Millsap at the deadline. He just started so it would be ridiculous to fire him this soon. But BudCox should be fired for their gross mishandling of this team.

If Ressler tied their hands and wouldn't let them trade Horford/Millsap then I fear for the future of our team.

So what kept Slinky from getting something for Millsap?

Well at least fans can't say we're on the treadmill anymore... Lottery here we come! Problem is that Brooklyn and other teams are still worse than we are.

Oh, it's a treadmill.  The lottery treadmill, where you pick in the lottery every year and still don't improve.

He can't just force a SNT deal on another team. Millsap was a UFA. The only things he could have done was try to bring him back or hope there was a SNT. He can't force Millsap to go to a team to work out a SNT deal.

Seeing what Millsap signed for I am shimmy sham shocked that he didn't bring Millsap back for that price though.

LOL!  There is a reason Russell was traded and the Lakers continued to be bad after drafting him.  Hey, but this is the type of talent you pro tankers want to get.  You would rather have the D'Angelo Russells and Julius Randles rather than have players that can actually play and help a team win games.

At this point, I'd be happy to get Randle.  We're going to need someone to rebound all those bricks.

Wouldn't you want someone that can actually rebound though?  Julius Randle doesn't do anything well.

Yup. Can't wait for the next Josh Childress to arrive with the 4th pick next summer...

He could have offered them Plumlee.  No one could turn that down.

Why would he have brought Millsap back at that price?  His (Schlenk's) actions speak louder than his words.  This is a rebuild no matter what he wants to spew.

Heck, you don't even have to look at the Hawks last rebuilding effort.  Look at everyone else that has been drafting at the top of the lottery recently: Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon, D'Angelo Russell, Ben Simmons, Ben Ingram, Jaylen Brown..........these guys are not game changing superstars that the pro tankers think you should get with these picks.  These guys are average at best NBA players who were overdrafted because they were 19 years old and had "potential".  This is what you will more than likely get by doing what the Hawks seem to be doing.

The attitude of some fans in this thread has a lot to do with the mismanagement of our assets (in that Ressler probably felt the same way). The mindset of needing to stay "competitive" at all costs. How can you trade Horford when we just won 60 games? OK, we'll try to re-sign him and pair him with the center he has always wanted to play next to. Nope. How can you trade Millsap when we desperately need him to win and we just signed Dwight to finally fix our rebounding woes? OK, we'll ride out the playoffs and see what happens. 1st round exit.

Now Schlenk is here and (with Ressler's blessing) he's making the tough decisions to get us off that eternal treadmill. It's going to hurt at first, but it's a necessary evil to finally get us to where we want to be.

The problem is Schlenk is full of lies and makes claims that the team isn't rebuilding.

Our track record is that we don't pay our high achieving players once they reach a certain level.  If you at least don't trade them and get something worthwhile for them then you are in a never ending "rebuild" cycle.  What makes anyone think we would pay to keep our players if we were lucky enough to draft some good ones?  Looking forward to three more years of Plumlee.
