Wouldn't they just tie it specifically to whatever the cap # is when the season concludes. So if the cap is $109 they get $27 mil, if its $98 they get $24.5?

They are talking about doing it before the new cap goes into place so they can take advantage of the current rate before the caps falls. That would result in higher pay for the individual players and less money available under the cap or tax lines for the teams signing them to these contracts. Otherwise, it would do nothing and no one would be asking for it.

Tatum, Adebayo, Mitchell have been looking into insurance for the restart in case they get injured during the restart. I'm guessing in lieu of this insurance the proposal is for extentions. It's just not clear on what cap figure.
Moderators AHF Posted June 17, 2020 Author Moderators Report Share Posted June 17, 2020 That makes some sense but seems strange to limit this to these guys. That same issue is there for all free agents, whether they are getting a max, a MLE or anything else.
Premium Member Peoriabird Posted June 17, 2020 Premium Member Report Share Posted June 17, 2020 I personally don't care about other team's players but as far as John Collins is concerned, its a no brainer to wait until the new cap numbers are in.
kg01
Anybody got any ideas on trade targets for us? I think that could be another good offseason discussion for the longest offseason in the history of forever.

I think that could be another good offseason discussion for the longest offseason in the history of forever. I can post a lot of horrible ones, this being the latest: Quote The Trade: Clint Capela for Terry Rozier and a second-round pick Capela hasn't had a chance to play a single game for the Atlanta Hawks, and this deal would obviously prevent him from ever doing so. But feel free to scan Atlanta's 2020-21 cap sheet and try to find movable contracts. Dewayne Dedmon is probably the next-most-likely trade chip, but he's set to make $13.3 million next season and would be a backup 5 wherever he went. Plus, the market for centers remains saturated. In today's game, it isn't easy to find homes for these guys, even one like Dedmon who can shoot and protect the rim a little. So, the idea here is to move Capela and transition John Collins to a full-time 5. That would allow the Hawks to play more of a spread offense in which Collins can be the screener in pick-and-roll sets or space the floor. The main reason for getting Capela is so JC doesn't have to play the 5 since he's a 4. Sigh. These guys have no clue about the Hawks, just throwing shite against the wall. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2896392-offseason-trade-ideas-for-every-nba-team-not-invited-to-orlando 5

The extra enhancements would have to come from GS. 3
