GameTime
After Cam's 90s Pippen defensive performance on Middleton yesterday, anyone else thinking starting Cam will neutralize the Middleton threat early giving us an advantage early in the game? As long as he gets significant minutes, I am not overly worried about whether we start him or he comes off the bench. Sometimes it is easier to come in when you've observed the flow of the game than straight from the tip. Cam has definitely had his best games as a reserve which might lead Nate to think he is more comfortable in that role today. For example, despite playing slightly more minutes when he starts he actually averages 9.9 points on .472% TS% and 3.7 rebounds as a starter vs 12.2 points on .539% TS% and 4.1 rebounds as a reserve. I trust Nate to make that call.

I think Nate still wants to bring Cam into the rotation slowly. He even said last night that he's on a minutes restriction and he's still not in game shape. I'd opt to play him heavy though in the 4th quarter so we can wear him down.
NERMAN
I like him off the bench especially if they don't have Giannis to start. If Middleton gets hot early though I'd get him in quick. If they don't have Giannis then maybe you see Bryn get the start. Hawks could have JC on Middleton to begin the game.
warcore
I for one am so down with this plan. Gimme those active hands! Those long arms! Those quick feet! GIMME DAT D, CAM! Oh y'all STOP
Popular Post kg01
Nah, nah, nah, nah no. Brang him off the bench. That way, ol' Middlyton gets to play with that anticipation that CamPippen's comin' in soon. Errytime he hears the substitution horn, he'll be all ... 2
dalamchops
bud's been playing his big 3 40+ min in close games, really doesn't matter when cam plays as long as he gets an opportunity to disrupt their offensive rhythm.

Premium Member JayBirdHawk Posted July 1, 2021 Premium Member Report Share Posted July 1, 2021 No. He's still on minutes restrictions. He gets ALL of Solo's minutes. 1
Premium Member cam1218 Posted July 1, 2021 Premium Member Report Share Posted July 1, 2021 As @AHF said, it’s not really about starting. I hope Nate has a quick leash when our starting 5 changes due to injury and somebody struggles, but some players respond better being eased into the game. Marvin24Williams
I prefer him off the bench for now, no need to tinker the lineup. Bogi and Huerter are fine manning the wing spots. Just bring Reddish in quick if Middleton starts to light it up
Admin capstone21 Posted July 1, 2021 Admin Report Share Posted July 1, 2021 Reddish off bench for some energy and change of pace
Hawkmoor
Keep the same rotation from the last game. Middleton will play a lot of minutes. Cam can come off the bench and wear Middleton down.
RandomFan
Gotta remember Cam is still on a minutes restriction. And in the post game media session Cam even said himself that he's not back into game shape yet. We can't expect him to play heavy minutes yet, at least not effectively. I'd say something similar to the last game. Maybe a few minutes more but not much. And this is assuming Reddish didn't have any swelling or soreness issues from the minutes he already paid in the last game.
NBASupes
He needs to be on him but Kevin/Bogi been a backcourt for most of the 2nd half of the season. Stick to what's working. 1
Moderators Popular Post AHF Posted July 1, 2021 Moderators Popular Post Report Share Posted July 1, 2021 People should not expect the same impact from Cam. We’ve seen with JC, for example, how his numbers waffle from game to game and Cam doesn’t have his consistency. Cam’s own performance varied pretty widely from the first 3 quarters in his first game to the standout fantastic performance from last game. What I think can be consistent is his defense, even if the degree of frustration and number of deflections is likely to vary. In short, Cam can be critically important for us the rest of the way but consistency has not been his strong suit so let’s root for him to enjoy a massive breakout but not jump in to kill him if he encounters some struggles. 4

Was thinking the same thing. I'd just like to see him be a consistent defensive nuisance and show restraint on the offensive end. I'm fine with him shooting and trying to be involved offensively, but I don't want to see him force things. So no reckless drives to the bucket where he's just as likely to turn it over as get a shot up. And if his shot is off, I'd rather he just focus on being the defensive stopper that he absolutely can be. Defensive aggression, offensive restraint is my preferred plan for Cam.
Popular Post Final_quest
Cam hitting jumpers was something to get excited about. If he gets that part of his game established he comes closer to realizing his potential.
