He was definitely a Lottery talent in this Draft. It was pretty weak.

Final_Quest, I agree.  Hawks have two very good chances to have impact players from the 2nd round.  Lets do two!

Later, after watching Mo Gueye in their 1st Summer League game, I believe some Hawk fans now agree with the old man:  We have a keeper!  Maybe he's not quiet as green as we first thought.  He has four total year's experience playing.  Two in high school and two in college.

Last night (SL) game, he shows some flashes.

He has good timing on his blocks...

He has a good motor.

He's springy.

He made a great Bounce Pass from the highpost. 

He has excellent technique on his pick in the PNR.

This guy has a skillset already.  He's a lottery pick in disguise and can possibly play with the big boys.

Sometimes you find a jewel in the second round.  I believe the Hawks did this summer!

One of the things that big, tall players in the NBA must learn is footwork.  Mo Gueye already has this part down pat.  Looking forward to seeing him in some pre-season games and in the not too distant future we will see him get minutes in the regular season.

This kid has it between the ears and is eager to learn.

Huge. When I started playing basketball I was 4 years removed from soccer ️. I just felt like I could dribble around at ease and make easy passes with my hands BECAUSE it was so difficult with my feet , or at least much harder for me with soccer drills.

There are a lot of Mo Gueyes in Senegal. Common name

THE BIG STEAL!

After watching film of Mohamed Gueye, both in school and Summer League, the Hawks are going to have a tough time of keeping this player off the final roster.  He's going to be better prepared for his NBA career than some of the first round picks.  Maybe even those players taken in the lottery.  There are things that he's not very good at.  Things he will learn.  There are things that he is already very good at!  We can see this in the film that we have.

I know.  We all have him going to the Skyhawks and spending a lot of time there.  Maybe the entire season.  Don't count on it.  If he goes down, it will not be for long.  He's this good.  Hawks didn't just hit a home run.  They hit a grand slam!  Second round picks have not been great for Atlanta.  This is changing.  Now!

Gueye looks taller than 6’9…not that the 1 or 2 inches matter but in these highlights I’ve been watching I think you can argue he’s 6’10 or 6’11.
