Official Game Thread: Hawks at Bulls

The more Bey plays and Hunter doesn't, the more it becomes obvious that when he comes back, Hunter has a lot to prove.

Nice showing! Everyone that played 15+ minutes on the plus. Balanced scoring, not too many TOs (especially in the 4th), loved that.

I would take 17 points in 13 shots, 9 assists and 1 turn from our star PG any night. 

It's a good thing "Dre" didn't play last night. We can win without him screwing around in the 4th, can't we?

How much of the outcome of this game was how well we played versus how lousy CHI played?

I'd say we played good. Not great. But good.

I'd say we looked great. But that's because CHI really had a terrible game pretty much all the way around.

2 things I noticed that'll blow your minds and dazzle your senses, in that order.

1. Someone was very vocal, I presume Snyder, in encouraging them to stop over-rotating on D.  It came across in the broadcast and you could see them fighting the urge.  I recall that's one thing Snyder has been preaching.  Nice to see them put it into practice.  Our defense was clearly better in this game.

2. CHI's offense is predicated on Derozen foul-baiting - odd no one afixes that label on him, but that's what he is at this point in his career, an unabashed foul-baiter.  The coaches mentioned one of our focuses was to avoid putting him on the line.  It was an absolute breath of fresh air to see us able to put that into practice as well.  Bey was key in that, which is odd because his defense has been sus(pect).  I'm not sure if Hunter would be able to do it as well because the refs apparently hate his guts. 

And one bonus observation to tickle your fancies ...

3. Also nice to see them decide not to use Bogd on Derozen as we have done previously, which is mind-numbingly stupid.

I'll take it as well.  We've seen too many games where the other team stunk but we found a way to still lose.

Well, well.  No Trae Young and this Hawk team opened this game by closing the door on the Bulls and then refused to allow them to open the closed door.  Whatever ails Trae, he didn't even make the trip.  

Bulls looked terrible.  The Hawks didn't.

Hunter was also missing.  What happened?  Hawks still won.  Were the Bulls really this bad or did Atlanta just make them look this bad?  How come the Hawks looked good?  We all know that they did.  Could it be that the Bulls had built their game play on defending Trae and he wasn't there and they didn't know what to do?

Staying on that record of being within one game of .500.  If we continue, next game must be a loss.  

Coming home to play again tonight.  Both the Hawks and Braves won last night!

The 4th quarter was safe last night since we didn’t have to watch Trae and Murray squander the lead with iso ball.....

I swear they play better without the other around..

They're a bad influence to one another..

I would love to see a starting lineup once or twice of Trae - DJM - Bey - JJ - Clint starting if only to see how everyone operates. Bey is strong and has held his own against Luka and Derozen the last two games.

JJ just plain hustles and makes things happen.

They grab loose balls. They play with energy. They are both strong with the ball, and can explode in different ways.

Hunter and Collins are Manila folder players.......

At least JC is great at his ML Carr towel waiving role when he's on the bench.... Dre still looks half asleep when he's sitting....  Geez..

I can see why we went ahead and extended Bogi -- the guys seem to love him and he seems to be a great locker room presence (and a solid player).

It's hard not to notice the 4th quarter clutch time offense operated much, much, better than the product we get when Trae/DJ take turns playing ISO ball.  The team plays with a different energy when Trae is out, and it's hard not to notice.  I really wonder what this offseason looks like.

We cannot continue with the ISO ball at the end of games.  We've seen both Trae and DJ play non-iso ball late when the other is out.  They need to do it together.  No more ISO spamming next year has to be near the top of the list of Quin's agenda.
